Gravy wrestling. Yes, we said gravy wrestling. Lancashire has long been known for its wrestling and developing its own grappling style, but we are happy to report that this now includes wrestling in tasty gravy, an event held every August and now added to our long list of things to do in Lancs. And there was us planning to romantically canter through the Forest of Bowland and the Ribble Valley on our next trip.

Alongside gravy – although we think in this case you’re not meant to consume it – there are tons of tasty treats in Lancashire to lovingly develop that spare tyre: Lancashire hotpot, naturally, but also the seafood of Morecambe Bay, three cheese walks and the 75 varieties of sausage at Cowman’s in Clitheroe – one of each should be sampled, we think.

We can’t promise gravy wrestling at all our Lancashire campsites and holiday parks, but our listings have details of local attractions and activities as well as local pubs to sample some Lancashire produce. You can also look for parks by leisure on site or nearby, among our 80+ filters covering price, user review, amenities and more.
