  • Luxury glamping site over 26 acres on the north Cornish coast
  • A mile from the surfing beaches of Bude
  • Pods with kingsize bed, private wetroom and decking/outdoor furniture
Surf’s up in style at Atlantic Surf Pods, a smart north Cornwall glamping site a mile from the breakers down at the beaches around Bude. Wielding a surfboard is a mighty popular activity around these parts, but it’s not compulsory: feel free to shun the sea completely if you wish, for these pods are in a handy spot (just off the A39 main road) for plenty of other antics including horse riding, golf and bike outings. The folk at this friendly family-run site have clearly put a bit of thought into what one might need after a day out on the waves: each of the luxury pods has a decked area with outdoor furniture, a gas barbecue and a giant beanbag on which to flop with a beer. If you’re a tad chilly and windswept, warm up with a shower in your private external wetroom or set off to the nearby bathroom block to soak in the full-size bath. There’s also a large mirror here, with electric points for barnet-taming devices. A ball game area and playground are on site to keep travelling tiddlers entertained, and the neighbouring field is filled with farm animals that are extra friendly if you nip over with a bag of feed. On less clement days, retreat to the shell craft studio to unleash your decorative streak. Just in need of a peaceful night’s sleep? They’ve done their best to make that happen too – comfy kingsize memory foam beds, underfloor heating and 26 acres of surrounding farmland should hopefully be a winning combo…

Camping pod

Liked: Set in beautiful landscaped gardens, nice bench and some outside cooking facilities. Quite extensive washing up areas. Good quality bedding. Lots of space. Stayed cool even in a heatwave. Comes with fridge toaster and kettle. Hose pipe in each pod area to wash down wetsuits. Good close parking. Even comes with nice bean bags to relax on.

Disliked: Wet Rooms are slightly strange. (Insane water pressure and abit damp). Got slightly confused on which water was drinkable and not drinkable some taps had labels and some didn't. No WiFi in pod.

Camping pod

Liked: The pods were set up like little communities, the kids all made friends easily and everyone was so friendly. It was beautiful to wake up every morning, and seeing the bats every evening before socialising by the fire pits. The staff were friendly.

Disliked: I guess no Wi-Fi, but I also enjoyed being switched off from it.

Camping pod

Liked: The location was good and close to the towns and beaches.

Disliked: We stayed in one of the surf pods and was so disappointed we left early! The shower facilities were awful, I understand that it’s glamping but I have had better facilities whilst camping in the past. Our private toilet/shower area was so small you could hardly move and smelt terrible and unclean! There was no drainage for the water to run away and you would of had to of literally sat on the toilet to have a shower. The shower was cold and you could see right through the shower hut from the outside, very little privacy. It stated on the website that there was another public bathroom area that we could use but when we went to use it there was some rope blocking it off and when I rang reception a very rude man told me that it was a baby changing unit only , there was no baby changing unit inside just a bath, shower, toilet and basin. The pod itself was clean, although my husband found a pair a old dirty socks in the bedside cabinet! The areas surrounding the pod were clean and maintained well, are BBQ only heated up on one side. Would not recommend sorry.

Camping pod

Liked: Pods were spacious. Double bed very comfy. Large outdoor beanbags. Eating area outside on decking. Usb sockets. Outdoor toilet/shower. Bbq. Fridge. Crockery and cutlery provided

Disliked: Woodlice migration on pod walls at night. No 3 pin sockets. Not enough shelving.

Camping pod

Liked: Loved staying in Atlantic Surf Pods. So close to Bude Town. It has beautiful grounds and plenty of space for the kids to play in front of the pods. The kids aged 9 & 6 were comfortable sleeping on the giant beanbags. We will definitely go back.

Disliked: I wasn’t keen on the shower attached to the pod however there is a separate shower room where the car park is (took me awhile to find) so happy with that. The bin area could have been managed better.

Camping pod

Liked: Good facilities, and the kids had a really fun time

Disliked: The weather 😂

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Oh the weather has been so unseasonably wet! We are so glad to hear that the kids had a great time regardless though and that the facilities were up to scratch for you. Hopefully see you again but next time in the sunshine!

Overall this is an excellent site; shower/toilet was snug but worked.

Camping pod

Liked: The pod, location, great lawn area for football and other games, fire pit area, fridge, kettle, toaster, bbq and usb charging points.

Disliked: As others have said maybe more hanging areas (as it was wet when we stayed so difficult to dry towels/clothes that we didn’t want to wash and use the tumble dryer for) and three point plug sockets.

Camping pod

Liked: Location, space for kids to play, safety, surf pods, friendly reception staff, clean

Disliked: Could do with more hooks and a washing line to dry wet clothes, water pressure and hot/cold should be checked before each booking

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi, Glad to hear that you found so much you liked about our surf pods here at Atlantic Farm! We do have a washing line in the playpark area for guests to use for drying clothes (and now a brand new and fully operational onsite washing machine and tumble dryer) More hooks is something that we are looking at as it's quite common feedback. Thank you for taking the time to review us and hope to see you back sometime

Camping pod

Liked: The quirkiness

Disliked: Hostile members of staff.. Abrupt, unhelpful. Ok site. Could be so much better. Great idea but not fully executed. Rundown in lots of places, old broken equipment just lying around. Exceptionaly wet week we had, unable to dry towels clothing due to Tumble dryer being out of order probably has been for a while. Bathroom with Bath unable to use without booking but clearly states with booking that this can be used with the Surf Pods. WIFI’s good though. Wouldn’t stay again which is a shame because the pods are great.

From the manager: Hi, I am sorry to hear that you found one of our team abrupt and unhelpful! Without more knowledge of what's occurred it's difficult for me to comment, other than to say that I am sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, the broken equipment I believe you are talking about is around the guests bins and is broken camping gear left by campers. We request that people not leave behind broken camping gear in our pre-arrival emails, and have put a polite sign up requesting that people not dump broken gear by the bins, but sadly it is still something that occurs from time to time...the odd lost awning here and torn camping chair there...made worse no doubt by the terrible windstorms we had while you were here! The tumble dryer is brand new (along with the washing machine!) but sadly the dryer was not fitted correctly! It was down for around four days over the weekend before being promptly fixed by the technician.

Camping pod

Liked: Clean shower with toilet, very comfortable bed and lovely lawns/garden for kids to play in. The unit was clean and had electric points and was comfortable.

Disliked: the staff were a bit iffy/stand-off and not very helpful - kept referring us to the website when we had a question. the pods were very close together the washer/dryer did not work, for damp cold weather - essential to have facilities that work. Wifi did not work at all.

Local attractions

So, to the surf: Bude’s got a well-deserved rep for being one of Britain’s best places to hit the waves. Keen boarders may like to head to Widemouth Bay (five minutes’ drive) or Crooklets (10 minutes); those needing a little more novice-friendly should start out at Summerleaze (10 minutes). Not got the knack yet? There are plenty of surf schools around to give you a hand. It’s not all about the surfing here – Bude’s quite the hub for outdoor activities of all kinds: coasteering, paddleboarding, sea fishing, golf and beach horse rides are all in town, and the scenic South West Coast Path passes through for sea-view strolls (pack your swimmers if you’re planning a lengthy hike, so you can cool off with a dip in the Bude Sea Pool upon return). The surrounds are stacked with attractions too: chuck the nippers in the car for days out at the Milky Way Adventure Park (half an hour’s drive) or the Big Sheep theme park (40 minutes), take a ride on the Launceston Steam Railway (half an hour), or potter around pretty Pencarrow House (40 minutes).
