  • Award-winning family-run site four miles from the coast
  • Five coarse fishing lakes on site
  • Spacious and well-kept setting in 34 acres of Cornish countryside
This family-run site converted from a working dairy farm is the recipient of multiple awards, has first-rate facilities including a cosy pub, and has five well-stocked fishing lakes on site. St Tinney Farm is on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Otterham and four miles from the north Cornish coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The team prides itself on the site’s high standards, whether that’s the top-quality evening meals in the bar or the awards showcasing St Tinney’s commitment to conservation and nature. It’s all in 34 acres of countryside a mile from the A39, with access to the site via a single track lane with passing places and around it by driveways and gravel paths. Five well-stocked coarse fishing lakes are accessible via earth and shingle tracks. If anyone in your party has mobility issues, let the team know in the ‘Other details’ box when booking and they’ll do their best to accommodate you. For supplies, Marshgate Post Office a mile and a half away has a general store, with another and a post office at Wainhouse Corner within two and a half miles. There are supermarkets in Bude and Launceston, but if you want to take it easy you can get your shopping delivered to the site.

Route directions

The owners recommend not using a satnav as the route to the site includes narrow country lanes. From the direction of Bude on the A39: Take the A39 signposted Wadebridge and drive through the village of Wainhouse corner on the A39. 11 miles from Bude, after a short stretch of uphill dual carriageway, when you reach the brow of the hill you will see a sign for Otterham village. Turn left, then follow the road to your right, then take the first turning on your right, following the road around through Churchtown Farm, and following the brown signs to St Tinney Farm. From the direction of Launceston on the A30: Bypass Launceston on the A30 and then take the A395, signposted north Cornwall. Drive eight miles to Hallworthy and take the second turning on the right signposted Otterham Station. Follow this road until you come to the main junction with the A39. Turn right continuing on the main road until the brow of the hill, where you will see St Tinney Farm signposted on a brown tourist sign. Turn right, following the road around to the right. Then take the first turning on your right, following the road around through Churchtown Farm, and following the brown signs to St Tinney Farm. Local bus service: Western Greyhound operate a local bus service (number 595) from the A39 which is a one-mile walk up single track country lanes from St Tinney. Local taxi firms: A suitable local accessible taxi company to pick up from Bodmin Parkway would be Parnell's Taxis. If you have any particular mobility requirements, please mention these in the other details box on the booking page.

Local attractions

Within a few miles are coast and countryside enough to keep you rambling, swimming and picnicking for as long as you like, with other attractions of Cornwall like the Eden Project, Port Isaac and Padstow no more than 45 minutes’ drive away. Sticking close to home, St Tinney is halfway along the stunning 48-mile stretch of north Cornwall coast from Morwenstow to Bedruthan Steps. The nearest beach, Crackington Haven, is four miles away: take your surfboard out here or use it as a base for walks along the cliff (bring your camera). Within five to six miles from St Tinney, you’ll reach secluded and scenic Strangles beach, which is well worth the steep clamber down to it; and the postcard-worthy harbour at Boscastle. Bigger seaside towns can be found at Bude with famed Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches (within 11 miles), Doc Martin territory Port Isaac within 16 miles, and fishy Padstow within 25 miles. You can also venture onto Dartmoor and explore there: Lydford Gorge and its waterfall are 25 miles away, and the living history attraction Morwellham Quay Theme Village within 30.
