  • Spacious site between the Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland
  • Within half an hour of the Three Peaks, Malham Cove and Gisburn Forest
  • Fully-licensed bar, shop and a popular pizza oven; bike storage
Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. Spacious and family-run, it is within half an hour's drive of all three Yorkshire Three Peaks for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. First things first, though, head to the on-site shop to collect some local information and a map of the local area; many walking and cycling routes begin directly from the site. There is lockable bike storage on site for your valued two-wheeled vehicles, as well as a cycle wash area so you can hose the mud off after long days up hills and down dales. Half an hour’s drive away is the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit. The Dales trails and Bowland bike paths aren't the only thing to look forward to, as Dalesbridge is a peaceful family site with spectacular scenery in all directions. There’s ample room, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times). There is also a pizza oven and an on-site shop, where you can stop off for coffee, rolls and pastries at the weekend. Based in Austwick, the site is a 10-minute drive from the historic local market town Settle which has shops and supermarkets. The Settle-Carlisle railway is also a short drive away.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Hardstanding pitch which was relatively level. Easy access to electric and water. Lovely bar on site with good selection of beers. Large grassed area for walking the dog. Great views and location for other local attractions. The Courtyard Dairy cheese shop is a must and only 2 minutes away.

Disliked: No locks on toilet and shower room. No dog poo bins. No area for dogs to be let off lead. There is a drain for grey waste disposal but it is not convenient for motorhome unless you have a hose to run to it

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Glad you enjoyed your stay and hopefully we see you again at the Dalesbridge. The Locks are like PVC doors and you need to lift the handle to lock it. I checked them today and one was sticky. We did have notes on the handles, although they have been peeled off, we will add them again. The Grey water waste drive over is something we are looking to add.

Camping pod (large)

Liked: Loved the pod and the cosyness, comfy bed and lovley bar

Disliked: There was not a bathroom in the pod or any water, there was an extra room that looked like it could be for a future bathroom

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We don't advertise bathrooms in the pods, although we hope to add them in the future We look forward to welcoming you again at the Dalesbridge

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Very pleasant and well managed site and equally pleasant host. I was in a tent but being with two others whom were in vans on hard standing we were put as a group so no problem accommodating the two set-ups. Its a lovely peaceful spot despite the A65 being not so far away. Immediate access to the Limestone dales and three peaks. Very clean toilet/shower facilities. Has a family vibe and there was numerous motorhomes on the hard standing opposite. Really recommend the Dalesbridge

Disliked: Honestly, nothing.

Dalesbridge campsite is just off the main A65 road between Ingleton and Settle. Do not drive into Austwick. If travelling from the Settle direction the site is past the Austwick sign on the lefthand side of the road: turn into the entrance directly before the Dalesbridge sign. If travelling from Ingleton the site is just past the second turning into the village of Austwick; turn right after the crossroads. Satnav: please note that our entrance is directly off the A65: do not turn up Orcaber Lane!

Local attractions

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders. For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall. To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation. If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.
