  • Eco-friendly countryside stays surrounded by woodland
  • Wild camping in a wildflower meadow
  • Badgers, deer and birds all spottable on site
A woodland and wild area awaits at Buckinghamshire's Washbrook Farm, an eco-friendly site with wild camping stays in a wildflower meadow. Based four miles from Milton Keynes and less than five miles from the fab and famed World War II attraction of Bletchley Park, Washbrook is in a countryside setting in the Whaddon Chase, surrounded by small copses and natural woodland. The roomy pitches take tents only and are in a green and spacious meadow setting. Washbrook Farm is predominately an arable farm but is also home to a small flock of pedigree Suffolk sheep along with three alpacas. The area is fairly wild so you may share the field with badgers, foxes and deer along with many types of birds. Please note that as a wild camping farm Washbrook doesn't have on-site facilities, i.e., no toilets, showers or running water.

Local attractions

Milton Keynes about four miles away has a fair bit to see and do including the Milton Keynes Museum, free exhibitions of contemporary art at the MK Gallery, a cinema and theatre, ice skating and ice hockey, events and music at the National Bowl and MK11, and the Milton Keynes Arts Centre in the old village of Great Linford. A 4 X 4 course and motocycle scramble track are at nearby Whaddon if you want to race around at top pace, or you could zip along to Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix and with visitor events such as driver experiences and car track days. For a quieter day, have a potter around Linton Lakes Nature Reserve, 37 acres of open water, wet woodlands and meadows in the Ouse Valley making up habitats for varied species including otters, badgers, shrews, marsh harriers, ospreys, herons, teals and owls. If you'd rather get out onto water than nature spot around it, watersports are available at Willen and Caldecotte lakes, both within easy driving distance. Caldecotte also has a lake train, outdoor play area, boating clubs, a mile of fishing bank and regular family events.
