  • Small rural site and working farm in the Peak District
  • A short walk from the Monsal Trail and three local pubs
  • Shop selling farm produce and award-winning baked goods
Right in the Peak District National Park, Dale Farm Rural Campsite near Bakewell is a quiet countryside place for those who like quiet countryside stays. And for those who like cycling too, as the Monsal Trail is a short pedal away from your peaceful pitch, making up eight and a half miles of traffic-free trail passing Bakewell on its route from Topley Pike to Darley Dale. And hiking: the Monsal Trail is a hoot on foot too and as it's the Peak District, many more miles can be found to pound nearby. (And for those who like trad country pubs: three are within a mile of the farm.) Dale Farm Rural Campsite is on a working farm and has a toilet block with washing-up area, and a small shop selling produce and award-winning baked goodies from the farm.

Local attractions

Pretty much all whims are whetted in the Peak District, whether you're into outdoor photography, climbing, caving, mountain biking, hiking, rambling, sightseeing or shopping for Peak District produce and souvenirs. Monsal Head of Monsale Dale is on the Monsale Trail and less than a mile away from Dale Farm Rural Campsite. It's one of the top spots in the region for stopping and taking pics of the River Wye, its dale and the utterly gorge Headstone Viaduct, so prepare to spend some time gazing around. A few miles from base, the sweet town of Bakewell is another highly popular Peak District stop and is the only market town in the national park. Also a few miles away, Chatsworth House is yet another much-visited Peak highlight and has been voted several times as Britain's fave country house. Austen fan? This is the house Elizabeth Bennet visited in Pride and Prejudice as it was used as Pemberley in the BBC's 2005 adaptation. Yes, that one, with Colin Firth, in the lake…
