  • Award-winning family-run rural site close to village and pubs
  • In the Peak District National Park
  • Play area, dog-walking area and friendly farm animals
It’s a fably warm welcome all round at Upper Hurst Farm. Previous guests have heaped praise upon the folk that run the place for their helpful and cheery nature, and there are plenty of furry friends on site too. This award-winning family-run site is just over a mile from the Derbyshire village of Hartington, 15 minutes' stroll from the village’s family- and dog-friendly pub; if you’d like to take in more of the area’s hostelries there are several within a couple of miles. Being in the Peak District National Park means the farm is a fab spot for those setting out on walking or bike trails; cast your gaze a little wider and you can also easily hit stately homes, museums, activity centres and caves within half an hour’s drive. And it may not have escaped the kids’ notice that Alton Towers theme park just happens to be about half an hour away… If you’ve not tired the kids out by day, there’s plenty of space for them to run about and play games at the dedicated play area; there’s also a space for cooped-up canines to let off steam. The site’s facilities include wifi, a launderette and modern bathrooms with underfloor heating, free hot showers and a large wetroom for guests with reduced mobility or families hosing down wriggly tiddlers.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Pitch sizes were good, toilet and shower facilities great and spotlessly clean. Check in staff really friendly. Slightly sloped pitches but nothing that ramps couldn't sort. Dog friendly.

Disliked: Unfortunately the area around the electric/services post was like a swamp. A few patio slabs could solve the issue easily. WiFi was non existent unfortunately. Just for info there was no mobile phone signal on 02.

Liked: The site is clean & today, hosts are warm & welcoming. Toilets are clean, well maintained & plenty of hot water. The pitch sizes are huge, there is nothing to complain about….except your likely to book it!

Disliked: The weather could have been better, not exactly in the owners control. If I’m being really picky better WiFi but if you want WiFi go to a bigger site, this site is fine as is!
