Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Quiet site close to Mablethorpe

Disliked: Site was waterlogged and very boggy. Standing water did not drain away. No hot water in toilets other than in the one and only shower on site. Dog walking area is not secure. Pitches near the road are very noisy - pitch as far away from road as possible

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. I’ve ran the site full many times and the 4 toilets and 2 showers are adequate for a small site as you can see from my previous reviews. Unfortunately you had already chosen your pitch before I was as there to advise you which pitches do not get water logged. We also had an unprecedented amount of rain recently. The fact you were driving in and out of the grass pitch would of course churn up the grass. My dad went on-site especially at your time requested to assist you in getting off site if needed but you had gone. There are hot water in both showers, you may not have left to run for enough time to get the hot water. As there are not many on-site at the moment it can take a little while longer. Of course if you had contacted me we would have advised or rectified immediately. We have many people who stay and choose to be on the road side, but I understand it is not for those who are more sensitive to noise. You did not stay near the road or when the site was even close to full so I’m not sure why this has been reviewed on your stay. The dog walk is for walking dogs on leads - if that’s what you mean by not secure. There is a fantastic beach a 5 minute walk away to let your dogs off for exercise. Kind regards Alice

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Our first time here and hopefully won’t be our last. Lovely small tourer site with usual amenities and a private dog walking path to the beach. Really enjoyed our couple of nights, even the thunderstorm didn’t dampen our spirits. Adult only and dog friendly which is why we booked as we’re currently training one of our dogs to be less anxious around people and pets. Well kept site with decent size pitch. Toilet and shower block were a fair condition and plenty of room to manoeuvre. Had one tiny issue which was quickly resolved by owner. (Thank you) We’ll definitely be visiting again soon

Local attractions

The sandy beach a hop and a skip away from Swallow Park Caravan Site will definitely be the main attraction; don’t leave without a meander along the pretty trails in the Saltfleetby/Theddlethrope Dunes nature reserve, where the marshes and dunes are filled with wildflowers, wading birds, butterflies and natterjack toads. Mablethorpe is small, but has plenty to help you while away a day or two: riding the sand train along the beach, for starters, or admiring the doe-eyed beauties at the seal sanctuary, which also has resident badgers, barn owls and kestrels. You can take in the shops and cafés at Spanish City, enjoy fairground rides, amusement arcades and a model railway, or take in the lively events schedule including the Bathing Beauties festival, illuminations, an annual show, and regular motorbike racing on the beach. Drive north to Cleethorpes or south to Skegness for more seaside fun and games.
