  • Family park 10 minutes' drive from Skegness
  • Kids' club, fishing lakes, golf course and evening entertainment
  • Bar, restaurant, pool, sauna and modern amenities
Wahey, it's Skeggy! If you too are somewhat fond of Lincolnshire's seaside capital Skegness, how sensible would it be to stay within a couple of miles of it – and on a family holiday park with loads to do, thoroughly modern facilities and a club to send the kids off to during the day? Very sensible, that's how much. Pack the kids off to make friends and stay busy with the Starland Krew while you make the most of the facilities for grownups: two fishing lakes, a nine-hole golf course, indoor pool, sauna and spa pool… You might also rather fancy a wander around the acres of landscaped parkland, perhaps hiding with a book until kids' club is over? Southview Leisure Park has lots of entertainment including cabaret, shows and tribute acts in the evening at the Lakeside Showbar; if you're still hankering after a quieter vibe, sail into the Boathouse bar and restaurant for a cocktail or a meal, or pick up a classic seaside dinner at the fish and chip shop.

Liked: Clean and tidy toilet /shower facilities. Whole site was kept immacatly clean and tidy didn't see any litter , lakes and green areas were beautifully kept. Restaurant was kept nice and staff were very kind and respectful and the food was well made .. we have older child who enjoys fishing he loves the maple lake and caught plenty in the short time we was there . We didn't venture to the other kids facilities but there was pleanty to do onside if needed. The club house was busy and had good entertainment if you have younger children. 1-10years. We saw a bus regularly dropping off and picking up taking people into skegness which is very helpful and would use another time .

Disliked: Not a lot to dislike , clubhouse got very loud and over rcrowded, but that's to be expected.. lots of walking here tho so if you struggle that could be an issue. The touring park could do with gates or steps to the pub/shop behind rather than having to walk all the way around or up a man-made hill side that's slippy and dangerous after all the rain we've had . Restaurant prices were on the high side..

Liked: Entertainment

Disliked: Showers were very rarely warm, it was totally pot luck if you had a warm shower. 2 days in total when showers were warm . Drains were also blocked and there was sewage spilling out . Considering the grounds were kept in a beautiful condition this let it down No golf course as advertised

Liked: We loved to fact that there was so much to do, all on the site. We didn't have to leave the park. Its a huge place with lots to do.

Disliked: The only complaint I would have is about the shower block facilities on the touring park. They could do with an upgrade, as they looked a bit neglected. I went in 3 times over the weekend which I stayed and there was no hot water.

Local attractions

It's but a 10-minute drive to the sands of Skeggy from Southview Leisure Park for seaside days out on its beach, along its pier and whooping among the rides of Skegness Pleasure Beach. If you're new to dipping a wetsuit-clad toe in the water, have a waterskiiing or kitesurfing lesson at Skegness Water Leisure Park. At Skeggy you'll also find Natureland Seal Sanctuary, and the Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve to the resort's south, one of the best places on the Lincolnshire coast to see gulls, waders and wildfowl. (If it's seals you want to see, go north to the Donna Nook National Nature Reserve between Grainthorpe Haven in the north and Saltfleet.) Four miles from Skegness is Ingoldmells, another Lincolnshire seaside town that's a hit with families, mainly because of its theme park Fantasy Island where record breakers can try Europe’s longest looping rollercoaster and the world’s longest suspended rollercoaster or, more calmly, browse the massive indoor market, open seven days a week. Driving north from Skegness leads to other fun family resorts like Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe, also topping for days out, or go inland for the Lincolnshire Wolds and food/antiques/gift shopping at Lincolnshire's market towns like Alford, Horncastle and Louth.
