  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

Liked: The area that this park is situated in is great, access to the nearby walks, close to a large supermarket and plenty of restaurants.

Disliked: The toilet block is damp, smells of sewers and felt unclean. The shower heads and water flow were poor, with the sensors for water being temperamental. The hardstanding plots are not wide enough, most have the corners churned up due to cars or motorhomes attempting to park.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Convenient location

Disliked: Very muddy after all the rain. Roadways to pitches very dirty. Pitch we were allocated had no grass as an awning groundsheet had killed it. Just mud as a result.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: We live fairly local so know the area well. This was our first trip in our caravan to test our set up etc. Site had everything we needed for our first caravanning trip. Location - perfect for walking into local town with a lovely high street. Great location for using bikes and also the water sports centre is good for a walk around. Activities for kids at the water sports centre for additional cost but there is a nice park at the centre too. Check-in was easy as codes given for gates, reception was closed all the time, numbers were provided for site contact but we didn’t need to use this so not sure how easy it would be to contact if needed. Womens toilet block was clean enough.

Disliked: Men’s toilets were dirty. Half the showers in both men’s and women’s toilet block weren’t working. Limited showers although there was another block which was locked so not sure if they are open during busy periods. No one on site if support needed. No shop on site.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked: Easy check in Lodge was very clean and well insulated.

Disliked: Nothing major but blind in lodge missing the chain and some bulbs out by the walkway to the toilet block. Just small things I did let the maintenance guy know on site so probably be put right
