  • A 10-minute drive to Hardwick Hall; Chatsworth House 35 minutes
  • Miles of walking and cycling trails from site; pubs five minutes’ walk
Can’t decide between Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire? Your worries are over with a stay at Silverhill Woodland Retreats – this well-established and superbly maintained campsite near Teversal borders both counties – and in fact you can spy three more from the top of Silverhill nearby. Surrounded by countryside, it has a peaceful location and yet is still easily accessible from main road routes. Customer service and superior facilities are the name of the game here – for it has a very glitzy loo block crafted from black marble, with thoughtful luxuries in it like hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. No need to worry about leaving anything at home either, as there is a shop on the site selling camping essentials, coffee and stuff you basically forgot to pack. There are ice creams on hand too, if the kids are behaving. You’ll find a play area on site for your younger offspring, as well as miles of walking and cycling trails directly from the campsite (pick up maps in reception). You can bring any four-legged friends to share in your hikes, or restrict your exercise to a leisurely stroll down to the local pub (five minutes’ walk) for decent grub and a pint.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Well laid out site opposite a country park with walks. Good facilities. Very well positioned for Hardwick Hall. We cycled there easily and it was well worth the visit. The site is a very similar standard to Caravan and Motorhome C;ub sites but was actually a little cheaper for us. The WIFI was excellent and free!

Disliked: Not quite as isolated as the description 'woodland retreat' suggests.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: This was our second trip away this year in our Motorhome. We have a very nice warm welcome and we were loaded with loads of useful information regarding the park and local walks/pubs. The shower block were lovely and clean and are open all day. Not shut for 2 hours for cleaning like some I've been to.

Disliked: I had to go home.

Liked: Lovely location with some fantastic walks. The view from the summit where the miner's statue is brilliant. The walk to Hardwick Hall we did as a lovely circular walk that took 3 hours. The friendly greeting when we arrived started a great 2 nights stay on this site.
