Who needs clothes anyway? Cast off your clobber and have a stay at this properly peaceful nudist site in deepest Shropshire. Set well away from the main drag down a mile-long country lane, surrounded by grazing fields for cattle, sheep and horses edged by hedgerows filled with wildlife, Wrekin View Naturist Club is a haven for those who prefer their bod to remain unadorned while they take a well-earned break among spectacularly natural surroundings. Since 1963 this site has been welcoming naturist families to its five-acre place in this quiet, rural and remote corner of Shropshire, surrounded by nothing but hills and natural boundaries, and a handy 14 miles from Telford should you ever wish to enter back into civilisation while you're there. There's a relaxation area with an outdoor pool and hot tub for dips, and comfy seating for southward views and sunbathing over at the cottage. More basking is done over on the cottage lawn, where huge benches that face each other facilitate social time – more of which can be had at the site's twice-daily complementary tea and coffee meetups. Strolls through the woods are another highly recommended relaxing pursuit around here – tall trees provide shade to a mixture of ferns, uncut grass, bluebells and other seasonal wildflowers, and the several picnic tables that lie dotted around provide peaceful resting places and treat-scoffing spots. For a bit of gentle activity en plein air, the miniature tennis and boules court are a top spot, and there's also a ping pong table here for everyone to use. Each of this site's roomy pitches is grassy and level with a hedge behind and a grassy space in front. The natural water comes from the site's own certified bore hole, which you can collect from various stand pipes around the park. The guest kitchen in the cottage is fully kitted out with a double sink, ample worktop space, three fridges, a full-size gas catering oven, a microwave, kettles and a small dining table. Wrekin View doesn't have a bar but guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol.

Edan 1 bedroom static caravan (couples only)

Liked: Friendly helpful and informative members. immaculate toilets and showers.First-class club room and kitchen area Clean hot tub and pool. wifi usable most of the time, is better than some. Ideally placed for Hawkstone Park motocross, Hawstone Follys, Bridgnorth, Market Drayton, etc comfortable clean mobile home altogether a very tidy well-kept site with loungers, etc Very peaceful and relaxing would have liked to have stayed for longer than two weeks to explore more of the area

Disliked: The gate combination lock is fiddly but good for security caravan toilet could be difficult for some but it was no problem for us a minor dislike did not detract from the enjoyment

Lorna 1 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Liked everything, would go again, friendly staff, no pressure, everyone approachable, swimming pool and hot tub, mini-ten and boules. Club house with tea, coffee and pool table. Male and female segregated toilets and showers. Mobile internet patchy, but WiFi is available. But good for a digital detox.

Electric grass pitch (couples only)

Liked: Secluded valley. Well kept (By club members) site. Swimming pool; essential during this heatwave! Informal and relaxed. Met many friendly couples, often sharing meals and/or drinks. Club members very helpful.

Disliked: Unable to directly fill our water tank from present, borehole fed, system. Water untreated and not fit for drinking. ( Bottled water was freely available; Updated system is planned ) Electricity limited to 5 amps. Very poor 3/4G and phone signal. Very poor WiFi

Local attractions

Wrekin View Naturist Club might well be remote but it's certainly not isolated: to the south is the historic hotspot of Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin, and to the north lies Whitchurch, home of the world-renowned clockmaker J.B. Joyce. A journey east will take you to the town of Market Drayton, or travel west and you'll reach the historic town of Wemwill. Over at Hawkstone Park Follies is an enchanted woodland filled with cliffs, crags, caves, deep woods and a series of historic monuments for scenic walks and bike rides, and archery lessons, donkey rides and a petting zoo are available there too. For more animal-themed adventure, visit West Midlands Safari Park, around 70 minutes' drive from the site. History buffs can visit the 19th-century citadel at Weston-under-Redcastle or the 11th-century castle over at Moreton Corbet, and there's enough there to fill days upon days of sightseeing around the 10 museums and 35 historic sites of the vast Ironbridge Gorge Museum, around half an hour's drive away. Bridgnorth Cliff Railway – a Victorian funicular that connects the upper and lower parts of the town – is a 45-minute drive from Wrekin View.
