  • Touring park near Much Wenlock with views of the Shropshire Hills
  • Archery, ziplining, clay pigeon shooting and quad biking 2 miles away
  • On the southern slope of Wenlock Edge; plenty of walking trails nearby
For a scenic Shropshire stay and easy access to shopping and outdoor activities, Presthope Grange is in a splendid setting on the southern slope of Wenlock Edge in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty. The market town of Much Wenlock – said to be the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games – is three miles away, and there are lots of places to take a walk nearby. As you might expect, the site itself has spectacular views from its spacious pitches across the Shropshire countryside; as well as that, it's surrounded by lots of room to roam and plenty of shaded spots are under the park's mature trees for idle hours on site. Presthope is a back-to-basics site with a spotless toilet block for guests' use. A mini market, traditional tearooms and a former 17th-century coaching inn are all in Much Wenlock for provisions and eating out; alternatively, take a look at what's on the menu over in Ironbridge, eight miles away

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Friendly welcome and lovely, if basic, site.

Disliked: Hill getting out of the site is a little steep, especially having to stop for the gate to allow it to open. It would be easier if the gate was left open while people are leaving.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Piece and quiet, easy access from main road and motorway. (no nasty narrow lanes). Great views across the fields from caravan. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy, well kept grass. Nice woodland walk 100m form site with free car park if needed. Walks across fields from site. Lots to do within a 30 minute drive.

Disliked: Being VERY picky here... There were some weeds / greenery in the gravel hard standings which sort of the the side down on an otherwise brilliant little site. (we are talking short stuff here not tall weeds you have to wade through :) )

Local attractions

There are lots of walking options on Wenlock Edge, along sections of the Shropshire Way and through the meadows and woodlands of the wider Shropshire Hills area. Close to the site lies a hiking route that winds its way along the heath and moorland plateau of Long Mynd, leading down a waymarked trail past a Victorian reservoir and an old rectory wood to finish up in Carding Mill Valley. For slightly more energetic outdoor-themed adventure there's an activity centre with archery, ziplining, clay pigeon shooting and quad biking two miles away, plus rafting, canoeing and kayaking on the River Severn about eight miles from Presthope. Once you're out of steam, take the Severn Valley heritage locomotive for a vintage train ride along 16 miles of railway line between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster. Other historic hotspots within easy reach include the museums at Ironbridge Gorge, Wenlock Priory, Stokesay Castle, Acton Scott Historic Working Farm and the National Trust's Attingham Park mansion and deer park.
