You'll probably be busy at Beaver Hall Equestrian Centre near Staffordshire's Leek. This small, secluded family-run site is deep in the Staffordshire moorlands, near Alton Towers and on the edge of the Peak District National Park with piles of attractions and activities for all ages nearby. This is something of a haven for folk seeking rural time, walks and bike rides: footpaths crisscross the 80 acres of Beaver Hall and the Churnet Valley railway line lies to the west for steam and diesel trainspotting.

Route directions

Directly off the A523 Leek to Ashbourne road, 3 miles from Leek town centre. If you are using satnav please put in 'Beaver Hall' only, as the postcode takes you to the farm next door. Wait for the sign Farm Park and look out for the Union Jack flag flying at the top of the drive. Access is down a long uneven farm track: please take care as horses and riders are about.

Local attractions

The market town of Leek three miles away from Beaver Hall Equestrian Centre is a popular place to visit in these parts, particularly for its many antique shops and its Saturday antique market. It's also home to the James Brindley watermill, now a museum, and shops, a supermarket, a leisure centre and tourist information office. Market day is on Wednesday.
