No. 32 electric grass pitch

Liked: This is a new site I think and the shower block was superb - warm and nice hot showers. It had a luxury feel about it. Seems like new things are being added on site like a micro pub. Pitch was fairly level.

No. 34 electric grass pitch

Liked: Great toilet and bathroom facilities, very clean, spacious and just gorgeous. Good communication. Great pitch size, dog friendly and surrounded by fields. Lovely campsite with tipis, bell tents and luxury pods with hot tubs and grass tent/caravan/camper van pitches. Pub next door but it was still closed when we were there. Walks from the camp site

Disliked: Quite expensive.

No. 30 electric grass pitch

Liked: Nice open grass site, away from roads so it was nice and quiet. Toilet and shower facilities were well maintained. There's an onsite bar and a nice farm shop nearby if you want some meats. Pitches are well marked with plenty of room.

Disliked: There aren't many convenient shops near by, making a car quite necessary. not the campsite's fault, just be prepared.

From the manager: Many thanks for the great review, we are hoping to stock some shop essentials from 2024 onsite so keep an eye out for updates. Thanks! :-)

No. 30 electric grass pitch

Liked: Toilet and showers excellent. This was our first trip camping in over 20 years and it was lovely to have a really good shower in a lovely and clean facility.

Disliked: Minor thing but would of been helpful to have information provided about local amenities such as shop pubs etc and when they opened and served food. Also the washing up area has a very strange step to sink which was a bit of a trip hazzard for me. The pitch up website also said local produce on sale on site. This is not accurate.

From the manager: Many thanks for the great review. Pleased to say we are working on all the enhancement areas. Hopefully you will come back and see. Thanks! :-)

Local attractions

To the zoo! Less than two miles from base, Twycross Zoo and World Primate Centre is the only place in the UK where visitors can gibber to all species of great ape among its thousand or so residents from 200 species. The zoo has a nature reserve and soft play area too to swing around in, and daily activities like keeper talks and animal feeds (wave at the meerkats when they pop up for supplies each morning and the penguins waddling around each afternoon). Twycross is at Atherstone, Gopsall Hall Farm’s local town on the border with Leicestershire – the Coventry Canal runs through town too to snap scenic shots along the towpath including ones of the Coventry Art Trail, public pieces put up here by local artists. Since Rick 3 was rediscovered in 2012 under a Leicestershire car park, interest in the possibly-bad king has skyrocketed, so make room for a day at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre to find out all the up-to-date info. (Sadly, however, whether he did bump off his nephews in the Tower is still a matter of fierce academic debate). Townwise, Market Bosworth and Ashby-de-la-Zouch, possible adolescent home of one Mr Adrian Mole, Esq, are both within ten to 15 miles for additional day trips: make it midweek for the former as Bosworth’s Wednesday market has been running since the 13th century.
