  • Lessons and sessions from beginner level; riding centre next door
  • A 20-minute drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick
Wakeboarding, watersports and Henley-in Arden glamping: what a top spot this is. Spot on Wake is a custom wakeboarding site at Wootton Park in Warwickshire, with two big purpose-built pools for wakeboarding and paddleboarding, available to use by adventurers from beginner level to expert. A pool for wild swimming is also on site. If/when you prefer land-based outings, a riding centre is next door and the site is within easy reach of ancient and urban sightseeing including Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon. You could even get hitched at the events and business centre next door – perhaps combine the nuptials with a wakeboarding trip...? Whatever you opt for, totter back to base for swish stays in smart glamping accommodation, all furnished with beds, a sofa, kitchen and kitchen kit, a firepit and outdoor furniture; a communal kitchen, hot showers and toilets are in a cabin nearby. For kitchen and firepit supplies, Henley-in Arden is under 10 minutes' drive.

Local attractions

Once you've dried off, trot along to the horse riding centre next to the site for riding lessons, horsemanship skill classes and an equine therapy specialising in children with autism. The centre's also the spot to book off-road trail rides around 300 acres of scenic countryside; ask for details when you arrive at Spot on Wake. Cultural connoisseurs have loads to see around here, the most famed of which is Stratford-upon-Avon 20 minutes' drive away, home of course to Will S the bard and stuffed with Shakespearean attractions to see. Bag a Shakespeare Five House Pass to see Hall's Croft, Mary Arden's Farm, Nash's House, New Place and Shakespeare's Grave, alongside Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage; you'll likely want to catch a show in town too at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Zip along next to ancient Warwick and splendid Warwick Castle (20 minutes), then to Leamington Spa (30 minutes), a Warwickshire spa town since the early 19th century. To the north of Warwick and 25 minutes' drive from Spot on Wave, Kenilworth Castle has an audio trail telling the story of how Robert Dudley who built it in the 16th century to catch the attention of Elizabeth 1.
