  • Peaceful back-to-basics woodland site in the Severn Valley
  • West Midlands Safari Park, Go Ape and Severn Valley Railway nearby
  • Woodland walks and fishing at the River Severn
For those looking for a peaceful and scenic setting within easy reach of loads to do, it don’t come much better than Stars and Wild. The family-friendly site is set across almost three acres of wild woodland meadow and its no-frills setup is just the ticket for those hoping to get away from it all. Stars and Wild is surrounded by ancient woodland and within walking distance of the River Severn, the Wyre Forest and the Severn Valley; depending on the time of year, you may stumble across fields of bluebells or poppies on one of the area’s viewsome riverside walks. Stars and Wild is a truly wild site with absolutely no amenities at all: please note there's no running water, showers or toilets here, and guests are expected to leave no trace. Continuing the stripped-down theme, there's also no wifi service and no electricity supply, which means that the site makes for a great stargazing spot on a clear night. Campfires are allowed in firepits, which can be brought by you or rented; firewood isn't provided and so must be brought in by guests. The site operates a no-noise policy after 10pm. Bewdley is your best bet for nearby food and drink options, for Indian cuisine as well as Italian and British food. Stourport-on-Severn also has a varied range of pubs and restaurants to keep your tum full after a few hours of walking.

Local attractions

You can go on woodland walks and nature trails direct from the site, or go fishing in the River Severn a couple of minutes' walk away. There are heaps of hiking, horse riding and cycling trails that run very close to the site too. The historic riverside town of Bewdley is around a mile from Stars and Wild – it has shops and cafés, a free museum and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens: tis no wonder that the name of this Georgian town derives from the French 'beau lieu' aka 'beautiful place'... You can also take the Severn Valley Railway for steam train journeys through the valley to places like Bridgnorth – with its arboretum and landscaped gardens filled with fairy and dinosaur trails and an Italian garden and maze – or to Kidderminster, for Bodenham Arboretum, 156 acres of woodland with pools, lakes and an award-winning farm. The treetop adventure course at Go Ape Wyre Forest is a 10-minute drive from the site, and West Midlands Safari Park, with big cats, hippos, meerkats and fun fair rides for all ages, is also a short drive away.
