  • Small site in a peaceful rural spot 20 minutes' drive from Worcester
  • Around a half-hour drive from events at Three Counties Showground
  • Adults-only a mile from a food pub; pick your own pitch
Green to the left, green to the right – stand in pretty much any spot at Worcestershire’s Waterford Lodge and you’ll get a proper rural view (even the access, along a single-track road, will give you a start on the countryside vibes…) This is a teeny and peaceful adults-only site in a splendid spot for getting out into the fresh air for a walk, a bike ride, a day of golf or fishing or a horse ride through the area’s handsome scenery (or a stroll to the local pub, which is a mile away and serves food that gets a thumbs up from the lodge owners). For a change of scenery, Worcester is a 20-minute drive away, and the site’s within a 40-minute drive of the West Midland Safari Park and various fancy country pads such as Eastnor Castle. ‘Back-to-basics’ is very much the setup on site – guests are invited to pick their own pitch in the open field, bedding down next to the horses in the neighbouring paddock if they so wish. Pitches have access to a water tap and a toilet shack with washbasin and outdoor sink but no shower, so please don’t head here hoping for a steamy soak. Other nods to comfort include a field shelter with tables and chairs, and a small hut at the top of the pitch area that’s a top spot for taking in the view. To keep the peace, the owners ask that no loud music is played on site; and there's no music at all after 10pm.

Local attractions

Turn gazes westwards from the site for views towards the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or get out for a closer look on foot or bikes – it’s only around a mile from the site. Waterside walks by the River Teme and the local canal network come recommended too. For a change of outdoorsy activity, a golf course and coarse fishing lake are both about a 15-minute drive away. Another mighty waterway nearby is the River Severn, which flows through Worcester (20 minutes’ drive) and past its handsome cathedral. The city’s packed with fine buildings to visit, and there are more of those locally in the shape of Eastnor Castle (actually a 19th-century replica of an older style) and Croome Court, a smart neo-Palladian estate. Both are about 35 minutes away by car. Other outings in the vicinity might involve visits to the pretty town of Malvern (25 minutes), a day spying on the beasts of the West Midland Safari Park (35 minutes) or puffing along on the scenic Severn Valley Railway (half an hour). If you’re coming along for an event at Three Counties Showground, it’ll take roughly half an hour to drive over there.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Back to basics site, adult only, price.

Disliked: Not the owners fault but Constant dog barking as early as 7.30 am going on to the evening from neighbouring property. It didn't help that there were 6 more dogs on the small field with owners during the 3 night stay which made it seem like we were surrounded by yapping dogs so we may have been overly sensitive but it did effect our enjoyment as we were hoping for peace and quiet in this remote type of location. Other that that it would have been good value

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Quiet rural location with easy access to public footpaths and bridleways. Clean accessible toilet with supply of handwash, paper etc Pleasant hosts Fair value for money Good 4G reception on EE/BT

Disliked: Slight slope to field - useful to have ramps though not essential Access lane needs care if you are in a large motorhome

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Stunning location with plenty of walks and pubs within a few miles. Peaceful fields and river nearby if you explore. The owners were lovely and relaxed; left me to it but made it clear they were on hand if needed. The sheltered area for communal eating would be handy but I didn’t use it during my stay. There are picnic benches, a parasol and some folding chairs in there for use. The resident horse was a source of fascination for my dog! The toilet was clean and lit for night visits. Perfect place if you’re looking for chilled out no frills camping in beautiful surroundings.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike! Just read the description to be clear on facilities as this is not somewhere you’ll find ‘home comforts’ - perfect for what I wanted. There is a little distant road noise to be aware of - not a dislike from me just for information for others reading reviews.

Liked: Lovely quiet site tucked away in the countryside but within easy reach of Malvern. The owner and his family were really friendly and helpful. The toilet facilities were great, a proper toilet which was clean and out of the way so we weren’t disturbed by people going there.
