Space for kids and dogs to run about (added by manager 27 sep 2017)

  • Small friendly glamping site on a farm in rural Worcestershire
  • A 15-minute drive from the market towns of Bromyard and Tenbury Wells
  • Barbecues, firepits and a fully-equipped kitchen provided
Firepit? Check. Barbecue? Check. Heaps of space for the kids/dogs/ recently-released-from-the-office grownups to run around? Check. Yup, Wolferlow Wigwams has got pretty much all you need for a classic family outdoor stay. This is a top spot for a rural break – 15 minutes in the car from Bromyard and Tenbury Wells for shops, pubs and the like and yet with a proper middle-of-nowhere vibe. Stroll a little way from your wigwam for scenic views over the Worcestershire countryside and beyond to the Welsh Borders and the Malvern Hills; by night, the lack of light pollution means you should be in for a bit of stargazing action as you sizzle your sausages. A fine set of indoor facilities are also to hand should the weather be less than generous: a sizeable and fully-equipped kitchen is a short stroll from the accommodation area, and there's also a common room with plenty of dining space, comfy chairs and free wifi access. From there it’s another short hop to the toilet block and its modern showers and toilets. You needn’t worry about getting too chilly by night either – each wigwam is insulated and has its own firepit and barbecue, along with an electric heater to keep you toasty indoors. Those of you who can’t face the day until strengthened with a cuppa will be chuffed to note the presence of a kettle, fridge and toaster so you can treat yourself to tea and toast all cosied up in bed or out in the fresh air.

Liked: Quite basic huts, but very comfortable and clean. Very good shower and toilet block, also very well equipped kitchen, dining area for days when weather is bad. Picnic table, bbq and fire pit for each pod, also portaloo behind each pod, very handy for night time! Owners Audrey and Alan very nice, gave plenty of advice on places to visit. Very rural location, if you have energetic dogs who love to run, it's ideal. If you want a peaceful rural location, no frills it's ideal. Loved every minute of our 4 nights stay.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike!

Liked: Facilities Hosts Peacefulness Security Toilets Showers Kitchen Barbecue Outside seating area The service from the hosts was exceptional. It was secure enough to let our dog roam free. We have stopped in similar places before, but they were the cleanest kitchen , toilet and shower facilities we have ever seen. We will be visiting again. So quiet and serene

Camping pod

Liked: Family friendly site with plenty of space. Came as a family of 8 split over 2 wigwams. Great fun. Wigwams include a fridge, microwave and kettle. Very comfortable accommodation - even with a heater which really did make a difference in the evening!

Camping pod

Liked: Excellent and clean facilities. Beautiful countryside with cozy and clean pods. Kitchen is well equipped and every pod has its own bench, camp fire and barbecue. Audrey(host) is a very lovely lady who’d done her best to make the trip enjoyable. Lot of families and children playing around. Shall definitely be going back. Can’t think of anything else to make it more enjoyable.

Disliked: Poor network in the area, which might be significant for few. Seeing as I want to stay off work and electronics, I didn’t mind much though.

Camping pod

Liked: Fantastic hosts. Clean kitchen, shower and toilet facilities. Portaloo also at back of each pod. Take time to walk around the fields above the camping area and you’ll get some amazing views. Was there with my dog and had a great relaxing time

Disliked: Read the directions well before going! But they worked.

Budget, wouldn't say £55 a night was a fair price personally.

Liked: The wigwams are located in a fabulous place with beautiful country side 360 degrees around you. They had WiFi due to poor signal in the area Each Wigwam has its own portaloo and there are shower and kitchen facilities. Wigwams are of a good size with stable doors to stop your children and pooches escaping but still allowing a lovely flow of fresh air in. Wigwams are equipped with Kettle, Microwave etc. Was lovely and clean, fire pit and BBQ provided with charcoal and wood sold on site for £5 a bag.

Disliked: We arrived to find no one there to greet us. I called the contact number 6 times with no answer over the period of an hour and a half. I missed an important meeting that day due to having to mess around with how to actually get in and what we should do. We was down visiting my in-laws for my son's birthday and we had to travel into Hereford for somewhere to go as no body was there to greet us and it's an empty farm in the middle of no where with your closest shop being a farm shop 9 miles down the road. 4 hours later I got a text from a lady to say: "Key is in your wigwam for when you come back later" no sorry, nothing. We arrived back at approx 2130hrs to find our key in our Wigwam, again no one there to greet us and us having to show ourselves about and find everything for ourselves. That evening we figured that the bed was just planks of wood supported by a really weak coffee table, resulting in my partner falling through the bed, injuring herself and me scraping my leg and catching my fingers putting it all back together at 0300hrs. That really let the stay down for us, it's a lovely place but the beds need revising and some proper structure added to them to stop injuries occuring in the future and customer service and greetings need to be of priority which unfortunately it is not.

Local attractions

You’ll get the impression that you’re miles from anything when you settle in here, but in fact this is an excellently strategic location for activities and day trips. Active outdoorsy types might fancy taking the five-mile walk up to the Tally Ho Inn, one of the owners’ fave walks due to its quiet route along bridleways (and possibly also because of the potential for a scenic pint at the far end…). Ask on site for details of this and other walks, either around the local paths or in one of the many countryside parks around here (Mortimer Forest and Bromyard Downs among them). Other fresh-air frolics nearby include swinging your clubs at the local golf course (five minutes’ drive), saddling up for horseback treks from the riding centre (10 minutes), casting a rod into the waters of Cob House Fisheries (20 minutes) or flying through the air on the Go Ape course in Wyre Forest, 25 minutes away. A little further afield, there are a couple of go-karting circuits about 45 minutes’ drive away and canoe trips on the River Wye from Hereford within the same distance.
