  • Spectacular views among woodland and Broads walks
  • Canoes and kayaks available to hire
  • Three local pubs within a 20-minute walk
As you might guess from the name, Salhouse Broad's Camping Corner is a place where it’s simple to get out and about on and around the water; this pretty place is part of the Broads, the rural waterways of Norfolk and Suffok that’s a top spot for boating of all sorts. And it’s simple indeed to get out on the water from this scenic site, as it sits right by the water and guests can hire canoes and kayaks to paddle along at their own pace to nearby Wroxham or Horning. That means you can base yourself at Salhouse to explore the Broads by foot, bike or canoe, all among lush views, woodland and broadside walks with a variety of species to see for the nature spotters. Salhouse and Woodbastwick villages are within strolling distance at about 10 minutes each and there’s loads more to see and do within driving or public transport distance: Norwich, Wroxham and Horning are all close by and the local bus stop (with services to all three) is 10 minutes’ walk away. The bus service between Salhouse and Norwich or Wroxham operates every hour and the train service stops every two hours. Salhouse Broad's Camping Corner is a friendly, laidback and basic site for tents only, with pitches in a corner of a field close to a broad. The site has a standpipe for drinking water, portable toilets within the main camping area for guests to use; please note that there are no showers or hot water. The pitching area is car-free and is 100 metres from the car park. Three pubs are within 20 minutes' walk, in either Salhouse or Woodbastwick.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Had a tap and 2 compost toilets and 2 portaloos. It was really quiet on a Sunday night. I had the site to myself with one other tent, and the screaching owl and the pheasants, and the odd plane overhead. Didn't bother me though. The water activities looked fun.

Disliked: Tricky to find, but the ranger helped give directions.

Liked: Great location. Canoe hire was affordable and fun. Amazing scenery. A kids play area and a lovely little cake and hot/cold drink van.

Disliked: Aware washing facilities weren't available before we stayed but would have been nice if they were. Possible site improvement

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked: Love the peace. Quite basic site on the waters edge for our paddle boarding. Clean kept porta loos and rangers on hand all day.

Disliked: Unfortunately quite a vacant field when we arrived we were put on a known wasp nest. This was already booked to be treated. But we weren't told and didn't notice until the tents were up. Sprayed with poison with kids. Even on our tent. Luckily we had faced away from the field towards the fence line or we would of had that all inside and wasps in tent.

From the manager: Thanks for your review, we're glad you liked the site and I'm sorry you weren't told about the wasps nest and the subsequent treatment of it, it's not acceptable, please accept our apologies.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Very near the water - beautiful woodland spot. Simple campsite. We arrived by canoe.

Disliked: The booking from pitch up did not come through - caused significant hassle. I would suggest booking directly with the site. Not as quiet as the webpage suggests!

From the manager: We're very glad you enjoyed our site location. We're very sorry your booking didn't show up on our system, we're looking into it to prevent it happening again. Also, please rest assured the people that were making the noise will not be returning to the site again. We have a zero tolerance policy on noise and we apologise that you had to put up with it.
