General
- Peaceful adults-only site with small free-use fishing pond
- A 40-minute drive from Thetford Forest Park and an hour from the coast
- Within five minutes' drive of village pub, convenience store and café
Spring Farm Campsite is a small adults-only site for people who want a simple camping experience in scenic and quiet surroundings. (To keep the site quiet for all, please note that dogs or large group bookings are not accepted.)
Facilities include chemical toilet waste disposal, a large shower room, eco-friendly composting toilets (plus one unisex flushing toilet), a shelter containing hand basins and washing-up sinks, recycling and ice pack freezing facilities. Free USB charging points and an electrical socket for phones, tablets and laptops are in the wash block. There's also a fishing pond stocked with common, crucian and mirror carp, tench, roach, rudd and perch. Fishing is free but please remember to bring your own rod and gear.
The site is half a mile from the village of Shipdham, which has a pub, convenience stores, church and café.
Barbecues and campfires are permitted, as long as they're raised off the grass. Firepits are provided free of charge. Bags of firewood and kindling available to buy on site, or guests can bring their own. Once the sun goes down, the lack of light pollution means some fab stargazing to be had (weather permitting, of course).

Local attractions
If walks and wildlife are part of your holiday agenda, head for the heath: half an hour’s drive away, the National Nature Reserves of Weeting and Brettenham Heaths are wild heather-covered spaces inhabited by red deer and stoats, buzzards and stone curlews.
For a contrast, make the hour-long trip to Martham Broad to spot cranes, otters and Chinese water deer in the wetlands or, a similar distance away, see the seals from the sands of Horsey Gap.
If you can’t resist the call of the sea, Cromer and Great Yarmouth have all the proper seaside stuff just over an hour away, from piers and funfairs to sandy beaches, plus a zoo and aquarium. And if it’s inland waters you’re hankering for, the Norfolk Broads are within 45 minutes with walkways and cycle paths for landlubbers, and various craft hireable from places like Brundall for watery sorts.
Woodland types can have a whale of a time in Thetford Forest Park: head to High Lodge to hire bikes and explore the trails on two wheels, or zipwire through the canopy at Go Ape in Thetford, both 40 minutes away. At a similar distance and also within the forest, Brandon Country Park has dozens of nature and history themed paths for walkers and bikers… journeys of either to be finished off with fresh cakes in the tearooms, natch.
