  • Six coarse fishing ponds on a small family-run farm
  • In a walker's paradise a few miles from the Suffolk coast
  • Shop on site selling bait
Fancy some farm fishing? Field Farm Fisheries is a small, family-run and friendly farm in Wrentham, Suffolk, stuffed to the gills with coarse fish over its six good-sized fishing ponds. The farm is also a top spot for wanders, as it has easy access to excellent walks nearby, and for coastal and seaside days, as the Suffolk coast is only a few miles away. Southwold, Walberswick, Halesworth and Beccles are all within a short drive. The well-kept amenities at this peaceful place include four showers, toilet blocks, hot water taps, two washing-up sinks, a fresh water supply and a chemical waste disposal point. The angling on site covers all ages and ability levels; there's also a shop on site with a good selection of bait and tackle maggots. (Fishing is subject to an extra charge, payable on the bank.)

Liked: Upon arrival we had a very warm welcome from the host, Nik. She was very kind and although we had a very trouble free weekend we felt she would have been there for us if we encountered any issues. It is a peaceful site in a restful setting. It's a good location and we enjoyed a pleasant cycle to Covehithe and onto Southwold from the site - a mostly flat and light traffic route.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Liked: This was about my 5th stay at FFF, and as always it delivered. Although the site was busy it's a quiet kind of business, clean, tidy, friendly campers , plenty of room, straight forward no fuss and Nikki and her hounds add an extra bit of colour.

Disliked: No dislikes or complaints.

Liked: This is our third stay at Field Farm Fisheries and we shall certainly return! It's a lovely location and the campsite is well maintained. Our boys love a bit of fishing so that's a bonus! They always manage to catch a few fish! The owners are friendly and welcoming, prices are very reasonable, and facilities are adequate. We will definitely come back again!

Liked: We had a great a time at Field Farm Fisheries. We camped together with two other couples and Nicolette allocated us to a great spot at the back of one of the fields. There was plenty of space in our own little corner. We brought our own firepit and bought logs at the campsite for evening fires. The facilities were good and we all had a decent hot shower. The campsite is in a great spot and we would happily recommend it to others. Thanks Field Farm Fisheries!

Local attractions

Among the Field Farm Fisheries family's most topping local picks is a day at Southwold a few miles away, for the local brewery tours, beach, museum and spectacular Southwold Pier. The town's Henham Park is also the venue for the theatre events, dance, film, cabaret and more at the annual Latitude Festival. Southwold is part of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, covering towns including Aldeburgh and Dunwich as well as marsh, heathland and shingle beach. The AONB is crossed by three long-distance walking trails: the Suffolk Coast Path, the Sandlings Walk and the Stour and Orwell Walk. For a sandy beach day, head to the coastal town of Great Yarmouth (at the mouth of the River Yare, geddit?), or to the two beaches and harbour of Lowestoft, the North Sea town that's the most easterly settlement in the UK. If you're yearning for more outdoors, Britain’s biggest wetland the Broads National Park is a spiffing nearby option for boating, biking, hiking and wildlife watching along its seven rivers, 63 broads, 28 Sites of Special Scientific Interest and eight national nature reserves. Or have a themed family day out at Pleasurewood Hills theme park and Africa Alive! wildlife park, both within a short drive.
