  • Well maintained only half a mile from the Bridlington Beach
  • A mile and a half from Bridlington; 20 minutes' drive to Filey
  • Internet access, laundry room, food shop, play area, takeaway and bar
A mix of fresh sea air and nifty facilities in one well-kept package, South Cliff Holiday Park is a family-friendly park half a mile from the beach. (That works out as a walk of roughly 10 minutes, although kids on scooters will have little trouble speeding down to the sand in five). The popular seaside resort of Bridlington is a mile and a half to the north, with shops, a harbour and a seafront that have remained firm faves with holidaymakers for well over a century. Nipping into town to pick up your bits and pieces will probably be a purely optional affair, though, as South Cliff Holiday Park has both a food shop and scrummy hot eats available on site. Leisure amenities (and there are lots) include a woodland walk, a pump track for bikes, a sizeable play area for younger kids and a games room for when there's call for indoor entertainment. There are other essentials too like a laundry room and bar (the latter arguably being the most essential of all…). It's also easy to get online at South Cliff Holiday Park, meaning lots of opportunities to share pics with friends and family back home. Say cheese…

Local attractions

Bridlington (five minutes' drive) has quite a few attractions to its name. Bridlington Spa (five minutes) isn't actually a spa at all (you've got the sea for that…), but a classic East Riding theatre and dance hall where all sorts of entertaining acts await your applause. If non-salty swims are called for, meanwhile, there's also East Riding Leisure Bridlington (five minutes). On the far side of town you've got family-friendly day trips like Sewerby Hall and Gardens (15 minutes), a scenic clifftop country estate, and Bondville Model Village (15 minutes), a pint-sized version of Bridlington and its handsome harbour. Other top coastal spots in the surrounding area include Bridlington Links Golf Course (15 minutes) and Filey (20 minutes), where curious kids with buckets and spades can head out rockpooling at Filey Brigg. Scarborough (40 minutes) is also within reach for those that want to check out Alpamare Water Park or climb up to Scarborough Castle; it's also the set-off point for the North Bay Heritage Railway, a narrow-gauge tourist train that's sure to make steam fans smile. To the south, Hull (50 minutes) also has a lot going for it: between them, the Streetlife Museum, The Deep (an award-winning aquarium) and the hulking great Humber Bridge should sort you with a rather agreeable excursion.
