Campsites in Cheshire

38 bookable campsites in Cheshire Sorted by our favourites

It’s a bit cheesy to use the term ‘cheesy grin’ about Cheshire, but, well, we’re gonna. Because not only is this north-west England county known for its crumbly cheese (the oldest in Britain, fromage fact fans), it was also home to Lewis Carroll, inventor of the cheeky Cheshire cat in the decidedly weird/wonderful Alice in Wonderland. We can’t guarantee that all Cheshire campsites will have Cheshire cheese close to hand, but we’re fairly certain you won’t have to go far to lay your mitts on some.

Once the cheese supplies are sorted (do this first), second, third and fourth on the camping in Cheshire checklist should be a couple of days in splendid Chester (wall walking mandatory), visiting one (all?) of Cheshire’s 20 gardens, and taking the little Lilliputians to Gulliver’s World theme park in Warrington.  You could also try some celeb or WAG spotting – Cheshire’s rather on the rich side because of its close proximity to the footie of Manchester and Liverpool – or just wander into the countryside to picnic on cheese sarnies: Cheshire is mostly rural so has plenty of parks, nature reserves and walking trails to pad around at. Say cheese.
