Camping pod (four person)

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Walked into the cabin and walked straight back out. Dirty smelly place didn’t get a photo or even look at the facilities. Booked a room 2 miles up the road at a service station brand new lovely with a breakfast. Didn’t even ask for a refund couldn’t be bothered(just like the cleaners)

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Site manager and owner were nice guys

Disliked: Worst site we’ve ever stayed at. Does not resemble photos in any way. Clearly a lovely site once but has since been left largely unmanaged. Bathrooms were disgusting. Toilets blocked. Dish wash area was basically derelict with a part demolished toilet block next door. Gravel road made from crushed buildings materials, which was also full of glass, plastic and other bits - totally unsafe for children. Cafe and shop closed (looks to be permanently so). Ground was really boggy, given it had rained recently, but no signs to avoid getting stuck. Can’t believe this is advertised as a campsite. Desperately in need of maintenance and cleaning.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Very friendly and helpful owner, gave advice for where to camp as there had been rain recently and some of the area was wet. Nice flat field for camping, facilities clean and accessible, with washing up area inside. Fantastic value for money.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Friendliness of the owner, Richy. He was kind in lending me a pan and letting me use a fire pit.

Disliked: Toilet block was really dirty with flies and the washing up area was filthy. No restaurant or anywhere to buy food or anything. Really disappointing as not what is on the website. I wouldn’t go there again, needs cleaning and sorting out. Also road noise was intrusive. Not peaceful location.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Friendly and welcoming staff who were very knowledgeable of the local area. The campsite is well situated for all local attractions.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Owners were really friendly, had great chats and were all round top gentlemen! Grounds were lovely and even though we had Thunder and Lightening all weekend, it was a great stay. Local area is beautiful and the views are amazing.

Local attractions

Tarvin Sands has heaps of room on site to wander around, picnic in and wildlife watch, but if you're here to also see a bit of Cheshire and the northwest, you'll find it's in handy locale for getting out and about. Liverpool, Manchester and north Wales are all within a short drive. It's a smashing site for kids too, as it's close to famed family attractions like Chester Zoo as well as the kid-friendly fare in nearby Chester: try the Chester ghost hunter trail, the miniature railway at Grosvenor Park and the pools and flumes at Northgate Arena. The Tarvin Sands team also reckons you should take a look at Blakemere Craft village, the farm animals, play areas and tasty treats of Chester's The Ice Cream Farm, and family adventure play park the Crocky Trail.
