Burns Farm is traditional, family run Caravan & Campsite, located on a quiet working farm, situated 3 miles outside of Keswick in the beautiful valley St Johns-in-the-Vale. Burns Farm is very conscious of its carbon footprint, and being environmentally friendly also adds to the feel good factor that we implement. We have a mixed recycling and we have recently installed an electric vehicle charging point at the site. We also made an environmentally friendly choice to installing a biomass boiler using renewable energy sourced from the farm meeting all the hot water and heating requirements for the caravan and campsite shower blocks, holiday cottages and farm building. We have the best night skies here in the Lake District and we only use very low watt LED light bulbs around the site so you can enjoy the very dark skies. Tourer or motorhome, Burns Farm has a pitch to suit. There are 30 spacious 5m+3m grass x 12 m hardstanding fully serviced touring pitches with grey water disposal, water and 16-Amp electric and FREE wi-fi. We cater for touring caravans, trailer tents, camper vans and motor homes. Our smaller camp ground caters for tents and camper vans. Here, pitches are very flat and well drained with options to include grass with and without electric with amazing views of Blencathra and the Helvellyn Range. Camping on our large campground can take very large tents and camper vans with gorgeous mountain views of Blencathra, Skiddaw, Helvellyn Range, Causey Pike and other beautiful mountains. The site is situated on a hill top this not only gives 360 degree views, it also means we don’t flood and the sun isn’t restricted by the mountains giving all day sun all year round! We’re a great base for exploring the surrounding mountains and peaks of Blencathra, Skiddaw, Latrigg, Scafell Pike, Scafell, and Helvellyn, to name a few. We are dog friendly and do not charge for you pet. With stunning scenery from the edges of our fields wherever you cast your amazed gaze, you just need walk off the site in any direction and it won’t be long before a hill comes under foot. From some of the highest ground in England, to the loveliest walk on a disused railway line by the River Greta, this is one of the greatest places to take your boots. It will be tempting just to get your chair out and sit on the site admiring the idyllic surroundings, but be strong, lace up those boots and get amongst it!

Route directions

Follow signs for Keswick and the A66 west. Continue on A66 for approximately 15 miles. Do not leave the A66 until you see large brown tourist sign for Burns Farm Caravan & Campsite just outside of the village of Threlkeld, even if the sat nav says to. Take a left turning off the A66 sign posted Burns Farm and Castlerigg Stone Circle and follow the road for about 1/2 mile up the hill. When you arrive at the farm please park on the roadside and walk to reception as the caravan and campsite is just further on to the right. Reception is at the Farm House.
