  • well maintained field with easy access to the whole of the S.E. coast
  • easy access to Park & Ride for Canterbury/ mainline station to London
  • large site with plenty of space to enjoy the countryside
Cobbs Meadow has flat mown grass and is secluded, well drained, quiet and peaceful: a site where you can sit and enjoy watching the wildlife. The road side of the site is ideal for facing south and sunbathing. The hook-ups are round the edge of the field. The WC chemical disposal point is the far side of the field opposite the gate with a tap for rinsing out. There are two drinking water taps, one located on the left as you come in the gate and one directly opposite at the far side of the field. Excellent local walks including the North Downs Way are off road yet on private tarmac paths, excellent for walkers and dogs alike! A footpath map can be purchased on arrival.

Route directions

For satellite navigation the postcode area is CT4 5DY but you are not normally directed the easiest route by satnav, so we recommend you follow our directions instead. Try not to go past the field as it is quite difficult to turn round for quite some distance with a caravan in tow. Directions from Dover - Take the A2 from Dover towards London (M2). - At the roundabout drive straight over continuing on the A2 to London. - Carry on straight over two sets of traffic lights on the A2 to London. - Turn off the A2 signposted Bridge and turn right off the slip road. Follow straight over the crossroads and follow the Bridge signpost, turning left to Bridge (a left turn just when you think you are driving back up onto the A2!) - Drive down the hill, through the village and start to go up the hill the other side. There are two zebra crossings – one within the main village and a second one as you start to go up the hill out of the village. Continue up the hill and immediately after the second of the traffic calming islands which jut out on the right as you go up the hill, you will see a crossroad sign. Turn right here towards Patrixbourne, Littlebourne, and Howletts Wild Animal Park (picture of an elephant). - Continue to follow the road for about half a mile - At the mini roundabout bear left and follow the animal park signs (picture of an elephant) - After a quarter of a mile (immediately after going under a railway viaduct), turn left into Bekesbourne Hill (be careful: at the beginning this is a very narrow lane) - Follow that road up the hill. In about a quarter of a mile, look out on your left for a road mirror on the entrance to a house on your left, then a road warning sign indicating old people crossing the road. The field entrance is between these 2.. - When you see this sign pull over to the right . You will now be in the right position to enter the field. From London Please don't use satnav off the A2 as it will take you on private single track roads and you will end up on the wrong side of the railway unable to turn around. Follow our directions after leaving the A2: - Take the M2 from London towards Dover - Follow on to the A2 Dover, then turn off the A2 signposted Bridge, then turn left off the slip road. . - Continue to follow the road for about half a mile - At the mini roundabout bear left and follow the animal park signs "Howletts" (picture of an elephant) - After a quarter of a mile (immediately after going under a railway viaduct), turn left into Bekesbourne Hill (be careful: at the beginning this is a very narrow lane) - Follow that road up the hill. In about a quarter of a mile, look out on your left for a mirror at the gate of a house on your left and then a road warning sign indicating old people crossing the road. The field entrance is between these 2. - Pull over to the right whilst indicating left, and you will now be in the right position to enter the field on your left. The entrance is a bell mouth with inset gate so you can pull off the road completely before opening the gate. The hedge along the road is not cut back for a very good reason - it provides seclusion. Access is easy providing you look for the roadside mirror which is on the left immediately before the gate entrance. Pull over to the right side of the road after seeing the mirror and you will then be well positioned to pull into the bell mouth entrance.
