Gate House Wood Country Park was created out of an old quarry and provides a peaceful sheltered site surrounded with woods. A relaxing spot in which to enjoy the Garden of England. We are dog friendly and open all year round. A perfect location for exploring some of Kent's popular attractions. Within 30 minutes of Brands Hatch and Lakeside Shopping centre and with easy connections to London, Royal Tunbridge Wells and the Kent Coast. For walkers we are a few minutes from Weald Way and Pilgrims Way is also close by. Pilgrims Way is the ancient footpath Early Christians used to reach Canterbury Cathedral. We are also a short walk from the Standing Stones at Coldrum. BBQs are allowed on the park (off ground only) but if you prefer not to cook there is a foodie pub just a five minute walk away and there are several restaurants and pubs in the local area too. There is a small shop on site stocking essentials and friendly staff are on hand with information on the local area and places to visit. Wi-Fi is available to guests. There are 2 toilet/shower blocks with free heated showers, hand dryers and shaving points. We have a separate accessible facility and fully equipped laundry room.

Local attractions

There are a number of country parks and National Trust properties within a short distance of the park and with the proximity of the M26 days out are a breeze. Many of the places to visit are just 15 - 30 minutes drive from the Park and these include the romantic double-moated 14th century Hever Castle and Gardens which was the seat of the Boleyn family; 11th Century Leeds Castle which was built on islands in a lake formed by the River Len; Beautiful historic Penshurst Place with it's 11 acres of formal Gardens; Hop Farm at Paddock Wood which has the largest collection of Victorian oast houses and you can meet the famous Shire horses that were used to transport the hops. Legendary racing circuit Brands Hatch is within 30 minutes for all the racing fans. The shopaholics among you will be spoilt for choice at Lakeside Shopping Centre where there are over 250 shops, cafes and restaurants. There are also easy connections into London for more historic attractions; department stores; eateries and pubs.
