  • Luxury glamping in the Surrey countryside for couples and families
  • Winkworth Arboretum and Fishers Farm Park within 15 minutes' drive
  • Breakfast pack, welcome goodies and log basket provided
And relax… The team at Glamping Holiday, in the Surrey countryside just outside the village of Alfold, have done their best to provide everything you’ll need for a comfy and hassle-free holiday. The luxurious touches start the minute you get into your tent to find it decorated with fresh garden flowers and with homemade biscuits or other goodies to get stuck into (a most welcome thing after a long journey…) Have a look around and you’ll also see plenty of lanterns, bunting and pretty decorative elements have been provided along with practical things including beds, bed linen, blankets and towels. The opportunity to spend lots of time outside is one of the real treats of a stay like this, of course, and that’s been made nice and easy too, with each tent having its own spacious outdoor area with a picnic table and firepit. All the extras have been thought of here, too – you’ll be provided with firelighters, kindling and a basket of logs (with more available to buy during your stay) plus the all-important bag of marshmallows. Man cannot survive on marshmallow alone, of course, so on your first morning you’ll also be provided with a breakfast pack containing local bacon, eggs, rolls and milk. You can have a go at cooking that on the firepit if you like, or head over to one of the two covered kitchen areas in the glamping field, which have gas barbecues and gas rings along with all the kitchen kit you could need (and undercover seating in case the weather takes a turn). All this, and a feelgood factor too? The site is part of the Springbok Estate, a charity-run organisation providing housing for retired seafarers.

Bell tent

Liked: This trip was above and beyond our expectations. You don’t need to think about a thing the site is so well stocked with everything you’d need. Our tents were set with such lovely touches, the homemade goods were personalised for my husbands birthday and the children had gingerbread men with their names on. Roz replenished our ice packs and the toilets and showers were cleaned daily. Such amazing value for the cost, we will definitely be returning next year.

Bell tent

Liked: Lovely site, with clean toilet and shower blocks. Plenty of games equipments for all ages, lovely walks to the local pub and shops. Owner was extremely friendly and made sure that all campers are happy and comfortable. It was my wife's 30th birthday and when we arrived there was decorations, balloons banner and freshly made cookies with my wife's name on it that made it extra special.

Yurt

Liked: We stayed in the yurt and it was so well equipped and comfortable! The kitchens were great and fully equipped. They really have thought of everything. The children loved being able to roast marshmallows on the fire pit! The space and location is amazing too. Everything was so clean and immaculate condition!

Disliked: The only things I think would be helpful is child safe locks on the shower/toilets!

Local attractions

Although you can afford to travel light around here, it’s worth sticking some walking shoes in your bag, as you can head out on rural walks straight from the field (including some that will take you to a nice country pub). There are also some lovely walks along the Wey and Arun Canal (10 minutes’ drive) and around the South Downs National Park (15 minutes). For other outdoor activities, there’s fishing on the estate’s lake, a short walk from the glamping field (bring your own rods and landing net) and a Go Ape adventure park (35 minutes) for those with a daredevil streak. Families may like to spend some time at Fishers Farm Park (15 minutes) while grownup guests explore Winkworth Arboretum and Ramster Gardens (both 15 minutes), take a gin tour at Wessex Distillery (20 minutes) or stroll among the grapes at Greyfriars Vineyard (half an hour).
