  • Family-run site in the Cornish countryside, five minutes from Camborne
  • 10 minutes' drive from the beach at Hayle; 20 from St Michael's Mount
  • Communal barbecue area and a playground on site
Bag a berth at Bluebell Campsite, a secluded site in the Cornwall countryside with excellent facilities, and explore the very best bits of Cornwall. The site has a communal barbecue area for summer evening cookouts. A playground is on site to entertain kids (aged 13 and under) while they wait for their eats. The surrounds are decidedly relaxed and rural here, but a handy location three miles from the A30 (Cornwall’s main artery) means easy access to all sorts of days out. Beaches, an animal park, St Michael’s Mount and the galleries of St Ives are all within a leisurely half-hour drive of the site. Even closer to base are the town of Camborne (five minutes’ drive) and the little village of Praze-an-Beeble – it’s 20 minutes or so's stroll down here for a pub, shop and chippy. Got a hound in need of hols? Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the site, but they must be kept on a lead at all times.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Friendly owners, clean, large pitch, location near both coasts. Reasonable price

Disliked: Shower too hot for me, so concerned about children. Walk to pubs unsafe, despite proximity. No on-pitch WiFi (although we did know this when booking)

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely small camp site. Owners so friendly and helpful, clean and tidy. Small play area which my kids loved. Breakfast in the on-site Cafe was literally the best, we were gutted we could only eat there once. Tidy and clean toilet block. Simply a wonderful camp site and perfectly placed for our needs.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Everything! The campsite was slightly sheltered with bushes around the boundary. Toilet and shower block was kept clean and always had lovely hot water (just what you want after a long day exploring Cornwall!). The cafe onsite is fantastic too - very reasonably priced, good, home cooked grub. As a bonus, the owners are absolutely lovely - it’s clear they care greatly about their business.

Disliked: Wi-Fi only stretched to the cafe area and signal is quite patchy. However this really didn’t impact our stay at all, it was more of an inconvenience.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We stayed at Bluebell Campsite for 4 nights. It was such a fantastic campsite and the owners were so lovely and went above and beyond. The campsite was was well set-out, secure and well organised. The toilet block was immaculate and had great facilities, and the pitches were spread out and nicely set up. My boys are 5 and 2, they both have additional needs, the owners were so nice and accommodating to them. They loved playing in the play area. We ate at the on-site cafe for breakfast on 2 mornings. The food was hearty, good quality and reasonable priced. Thank you to Jeannette and family, we will definitely be back!

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Well maintained. Convenient for transport routes, visiting camborne and local attractions. Friendly welcome.

Disliked: General showers were either scorching or tepid. Disabled facilities had poor ventilation, and the shower wasn't temperature regulated either (really important).

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. The disabled facility is only for a disabled person. You requested you had a key to use it. On arrival you were given an information sheet welcoming you to Bluebell and in capital letters it states if you have any problems please let the management know. You were here for 2 weeks, ate breakfast in the cafe not once did you mention anything about the water being too hot. Two other disabled ladies also used the facility and there were no complaints. Regards Bluebell management

Local attractions

Cornwall, as you may have heard, has a rather fine collection of beaches… the nearest to Bluebell Campsite being the lengthy stretch of sand around Hayle (10 minutes’ drive) and the three-mile expanse of sand and shingle at Porthleven beach (15 minutes). Pick your times carefully if you’re off to St Michael’s Mount (20 minutes) – walks can only be had at low tide and boat rides only at high tide. Seals are fond of this area too, and you can set off to see them on boat trips from St Ives (25 minutes) or be guaranteed viewings at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (25 minutes). Follow that up with penguin feeding, eagle shows and other animal encounters at Paradise Park animal park and play centre (10 minutes). Folk who like to delve into local history (or see some of the locations from the popular telly series) should head below ground at Poldark Mine & The Cornish Heritage Collection (15 minutes). A village and shops from ye olden dayes have been reconstructed at Flambards Theme Park (15 minutes) to provide a bit of a calming interlude between thrill rides.
