  • Tehidy Country Park and South West Coast Path within walking distance
  • Kitchen, bathroom, outdoor seating and bedding provided
Keen to find a little corner of Cornwall you can have all to yourselves? You may think that’s quite a big ask in this ever-popular county, but it’s certainly on offer at Mount Whistle Farm. Pick a stay at this rural smallholding five minutes’ drive from the centre of Camborne and you’ll be the only group on site. Your accommodation while you’re here is a comfy adults-only touring caravan that’s been parked up in a quiet and peaceful setting that also happens to be handy for the A30, the north coast and Tehidy Country Park, all of which are within a few minutes’ drive. Here for the beaches? You’re in luck: it’s a five-minute drive from the site to Portreath, or about 15 minutes to Gwithian and Chapel Point. There’s more to Cornwall than just beaches though – and from Mount Whistle you can easily get to the likes of an arty day in St Ives, a couple of rounds of golf or a tasty time at Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm. Whatever you get up to by day, you’ll be coming back to a cosy caravan stay where much of what you’ll need is provided for you, including bedding, towels, a kitchen (with microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge) and an ensuite bathroom. There’s a dining table inside, and outdoor furniture too for those days when you’d like to sit out to take in the fresh air. You can also stroll to a couple of pubs in half an hour or so if you’d like to have someone else do the cooking and drink-providing.

Liked: The caravan was well kept and loved the fact that all the windows had insect screens and blinds, meant we could have the windows open all day with no worry of bugs. The owners were lovely and can’t fault them on anything.

Local attractions

Take a walk from the site and you can get to Tehidy Country Park in about 20 minutes to explore the woods and wander over to the coast path, where you can walk from cute little Basset’s Cove up to Portreath for a drink in one of its pubs, a paddle on the beach and something tasty from the fish and chip shop. For more top coastal spots it’s a 15-minute drive to the cliffs of Chapel Porth beach or the stunning sands at Gwithian, and about 20 minutes to the history-packed St Agnes Heritage Coast. A day out in St Ives (25 minutes’ drive) is also highly recommended: once you’ve done the arty attractions of Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, you can wander along the coast to Porthminster beach or Carbis Bay for a dip. Two of the area’s best known products are on display nearby too: check out Cornwall Gold and Torgus Mill (10 minutes) for some gorgeous trinkets, and learn how the similarly-hued drink is produced on a tour of Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm (15 minutes).
