  • Small dog-friendly site one mile from the St. Ives Bay coastline
  • A 25-minute walk from three miles of golden-sand surfing beaches
  • Clubhouse on site; kitchen open for some evening meals
Time to get stuck into the Cornish surf and St Ives’ arts scene? All aboard for Hayle Rugby Club Campsite, a small site just a mile from the St Ives Bay coastline. Setting down 25 minutes’ walk from three miles of golden-sand surfing beaches will surely please those looking to master the Cornwall waves, explore the dunes and wildlife or set about some sandcastle building. Just off the main A30 road, accessing beaches, towns and the surf is all rather straightforward. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the site, along with pubs, shops and bus stops (to access other local spots and areas all around the Cornish coast). St Michael’s Mount is 20 minutes’ drive away, by the way. Hayle Rugby Club Campsite has nine acres of land with limited access, set up for simple tents-only camping. The site’s shared with the RFC, who have a great dog-friendly clubhouse (grab a drink there) and a seating area (a prime spot for sunset). On-site facilities include toilets, showers, washing-up facilities and a tap for running water. The hot unisex showers are available from 8am to 10am and then 4pm to 6pm. Take a note: barbecue night is on Fridays and there's a Cornish Oven bakery on site open seven days per week. There’s also a bus stop within 50 metres of the site.

Liked: Great location to stay for all of cornwalls delights from st. Michaels mount and st Ives to the 3 miles of beach 5m in drive away! Perfect for Children and dogs very welcoming friendly staff, the campsite is super relaxed. Clean and tidy. Hot showers and washing up facilities. Even offered us to get our takeaway delivered to the bar and eat it in the warm, supplying the children with colouring books and games to keep them happy.

Disliked: Only slight downer was the noise from the road.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Everyone at the rugby club were a delight from start to finish. We had a very warm welcome, and every evening at the on-site bar - the staff were so lovely. We felt part of the community for the week. The site was well maintained and toilet block was clean. The showers were basic but that’s not a problem at all. We had a great week and we will defiantly stay again.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely well-kept ground to pitch on, decent showers & toilets, cheap drinks in the bar! Staff were really friendly and helpful. Full English breakfast is a bargain 🍳 or you can order in food anytime to the bar (with free wifi and charging points!). Shops & places to eat nearby and stunning beaches for surfing or chilling. Really good location to explore St Ives/Penzance area. Bus to St Ives is 10 mins walk away.

Disliked: Was a bit noisy as it’s near the road, so bring your ear plugs!!

Liked: The hospitality of the couple running the campsite is gold star! They are friendly, helpful and fun. Bacon butty in the morning is well worth buying. In site warden to support you if needed. Facilities are all fine. Close to Hayle. Off the A30 so very accessible.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.
