  • Roomy lakeside site with boat and bank fishing
  • Short drive to Liskeard and to the smugglers' site of Jamaica Inn
  • Lakeside café, birdwatching, walking and a three-mile cycle path
Bordered by the tors and moors of Bodmin, Siblyback Lake Country Park is a roomy lakeside site with a lakeside café serving snacks and light meals. Around the water, there is excellent birdwatching and walking territory; a pretty three-mile cycle path (fully accessible to wheelchair users) snakes around the lake to make the best of the spectacular views. For fisherfolk, there is both boat and bank fishing available; float tubes are allowed when paired up. Siblyback's lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout, which will be good news for keen anglers. Nearby Bodmin is the highest and most sparsely populated area of Cornwall, a land of myth and mystery. Close to Siblyback are Dozmary Pool, alleged to be the final resting place of King Arthur’s Excalibur, and the moody Hurlers, three stone circles reputedly formed when a group of men who dared to play games on the Sabbath Day were turned to stone.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Lovely views and good dog walk

Disliked: Signage for showers and toilets very poor we had to ask someone. The site was quite unkept there was no one around to ask for help? I emailed the site 3 times to ask for a later checkout but never had any reply.

Non-electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Loved the lake and the peace. Such a safe environment to go with a young child. Facilities lovely and clean. Also loved there being no WiFi and limited phone signal.

Disliked: Turning up to find we'd been pitched on gravel and no staff around to ask!

Non-electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: It’s a pretty location with lovely views.

Disliked: There was no welcome email and I had missed the part about letting them know your arrival time. When we arrived there was no reception area and no one around. Due to the location there was no mobile signal so we couldn’t call the number in the booking text. Luckily we followed another car into the site as it was padlocked shut! The second night the site was empty and we decided to leave as it felt deserted, which I appreciate some people may like. The section next to the camping area was run down and the toilets and showers needed some updating as they are basic. The washup area didn’t even have a bin and someone had left a sink full of food bits which was horrid. All in all it was a complete let down. Maybe we visited too early in the season as none of the water sports was open either.

Liked: Love the Views was Amazing! The pitches were lovely and ideal to put the tent up. Has a great huge lake you can walk around the entire thing which we had done! Such a lovely relaxing walk. Definitely recommend it’s great for dogs also they have a separate field Area you can take your dogs in which I think is great! Waking up to the wildlife was so relaxing and honestly Amazing cannot recommend it anymore. Everyone was so friendly near us. Showers and toilets were lovely too. Showers good temperature which was nice. The cafe was incredible, staff were lovely. Overal a good stay so Thankyou for having us.

Local attractions

Other potential trips include a tour of the global greenery under the massive domes of the Eden Project, which lays on special activities for kids in the summer holidays, including circus skills, den building and water play, and a venture to the highest pub in Cornwall in the neighbouring village of Minions. Also visit the seaside resort of Looe, two towns in one linked by a bridge over an inlet where you can watch the fishing boats bring in their catch, or the fishing village of Polperro, where cars are banned from the narrow streets. As well as the many great beaches nearby, kids will no doubt enjoy a day at Crealy Adventure Park meeting the animals, scrambling around the play areas, and being spun around and splashed about on the rides.
