What a lot there is to do around Cornwall's Newquay Bay Resort, a family-friendly park set a 15-minute walk from the golden and safe beach of Porth. Fittingly for a site based near Newquay, the park has its own surf school for those interested in learning the art – or you might prefer to lounge around the resort's many facilities (and bar) instead…? Newquay Bay has a good range of modern accommodation and a wide variety of facilities, including a fully refurbished indoor pool with sauna and steam rooms at no extra charge, a heated outdoor pool with seating and a new play area (pool open in summer), and the Venue bar and restaurant, serving food every day and fully kitted out with BT Sports, arcade games, snooker tables and plenty of seating. The summer months see regular family evening entertainment in the Venue. For food, there's a restaurant in the Venue which aims to produces high-quality food to match the standards of the site facilities, using the best of fresh local ingredients; as much of the food is made in-house as possible, from burgers to sauces. There's a small shop on site selling fresh food, gifts and various essentials and plenty of local supermarkets are close to hand. Amenities include showers, toilets, disabled facilities, wifi (in the Venue) and launderettes with coin-operated machines; irons and ironing boards can be hired from reception and there are also airers if required. And if you're here to investigate the surf at nearby Fistral beach and Watergate Bay? Newquay Bay's on-site Blue Surf School has lessons and equipment hire, as well as activities such as coasteering, all available for an additional charge. The famed surf festival Boardmasters is nearby. Please note that mobile phone reception is weak due to the park's valley location.

Local attractions

Take the tiddlers to any one of many kid-friendly things to see and do: Newquay Zoo, the Blue Reef Aquarium and DairyLand Farm World are the closest big family attractions, but it's worth a trip to the Eden Project at St Austell or to Devon for the Crealy Great Adventure Park at Exeter, and The Big Sheep and the Milky Way parks, both at Bideford. The closest sands to the site are at Porth beach and Watergate Bay, both within about 15 minutes and both part of the beaches at Newquay. If you'd rather sunbathe, stroll, paddle or rockpool than surf, Newquay has miles upon miles of beaches to explore – try a day each at Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze, Great Western, Towan or Tregurrian.
