Seven bays… in seven days? Have at least a week’s stay at the Cornish site of Seagull Tourist Park, to be within 10 minutes’ drive of the spectacular spots of Trevone, Harlyn, Mother Iveys, Boobys, Constantine, Treyarnon and Porthcothan, all dotted along the north Cormwall coastline around St Merryn. And might you also fancy some surfing? Newquay is half an hour’s drive to the south. An amusement park? It’s a 10-minute drive from Seagull Tourist Park to Camel Creek. National Trust properties, South West Coast Path hikes, animal attractions and castles? All are within at hour at most and several attractions are within 15 minutes. Seagull is mostly level and free-draining, with good overall amenities including a laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing point, hairdryer and hot water, and a spacious toilet block with free showers. Please bring your own toilet paper to the site, as it’s not provided. The staff at reception can also freeze your ice packs and charge batteries. Most of everything else you might need can be picked up at the shops, bakery, post office, pubs and cafés of St Merryn, five minutes’ drive away.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The location of the site, it was very quiet and peaceful. You could actually see the sea. The size of the pitch was great.

Disliked: Grass pitch was bare and could be muddy when wet.

From the manager: Thankyou so much for your lovely review, we really appreciate it. Hope to see you agian soon. As for the Grass pitches when it gets to the end of the season you've got to remember we've had a lot of people on these pitches and they do get a bit bare, I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do about that. We could put in hardstanding but then the price goes up and we like to keep the prices as low as we can.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The ocean view field and the feeling of freedom camping in a field but knowing the site managers were about if anything went wrong

Disliked: The toilets , they need to have little shelves inside each cubicle for loo roll and sanitary products and toothbrush and toothpaste , it’s just a bit basic as toilet paper not provided

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again next year. There are shelves at the sinks for toothpaste and toothbrush, shelves under the mirror for hair products and shelves in the showers for shower products but you are right with the toilet cubicles we may need to put in toilet roll holders even although we dont provide toilet paper. I will look into this. thanks for pointing it out.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The check in process was quick and easy and the site manager was lovely. She emailed us information on nice beaches to see prior to our visit. The campsite was very clean. It is perfectly placed near St Merryn and close to Padstow. Unfortunately we didn’t get the good weather but it hasn’t put us off. Hopefully we will return to this campsite next year. Thankyou for a great stay.

2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Very quiet and clean campsite. The caravan we stayed in was spotless and possibly brand new. Superb value for money. We very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much.

Disliked: A washing line or somewhere to dry towels or wetsuits would have been handy.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Yes the Static was brand new, you were the 3rd people to stay in it, I'm glad you liked it. There is an airdryer in the cupboard just inside the front door. We also have an outside washing line ready to put up. Thankyou so much for your lovely review, we really appreciate it. Hope to see you agian soon

3 bedroom static caravan

Liked: We were lucky to have a new caravan with all the modcon's and it was excellent. The site was well kept and quite and in a great location for the beaches in this area. The park staff were helpful and friendly.

Disliked: Minor stuff, the lack of mobile signal, having access to a site wifi would be a huge selling point. However, it should be said, if you drive to the entrance, you have a full 4G signal. Also the road is very bumpy on the way in to the park.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Thankyou for your lovely review, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes the WIFI is terrible on the park, it doesnt even reach the outside of reception this is why it's not worth giving it to the customer. We wish it was better. We are on a working farm so the main road is driven on all the time with heavy tractors and it's not the parks resposibilty to repair it. Hope to see you again soon.

Local attractions

You’d need weeks to get around even some of the attractions and activities around this stretch of north Cornish coast… and that’s without even turning sights southwards to the likes of Falmouth… After your week or so on the sands of the seven nearby bays, have an inland day along the Camel Trail, the 14-mile traffic-free path from Wadebridge to Bodmin. Bikes (including trailer bikes to take toddlers) can be hired at several points along the trail. If the kids find that a tad too tame, a go-kart circuit within 10 minutes’ drive is the karting spot for kids aged three to six. Among the many other options within easy reach are Newquay Zoo, the town’s Pirates Quest or the Blue Reef Aquarium (all 30 minutes), Tintagel Castle (45 minutes), or a grownup outing to the National Trust’s Bedruthan Steps, 15 minutes away. Another grownup option is a tour and tasting at the award-winning Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm (35 minutes) – although as there’s a farm park here as well, the kids can come along too.
