  • Family-run park in north Cornwall, a 10-minute drive from beaches
  • Five miles from restaurants and harbour in Padstow
  • Minimal electric lighting to give dark skies for stargazing
It's quiet, rural and in a secluded setting, but you're actually jolly well connected when you park up at Yonder Green Caravan Park. This small, peaceful and family-run touring park in St Ervan is only a few miles from some of north Cornwall's finest beaches (Porthcothan and Constantine Bay among them), five miles from Padstow (where you may have heard there's another fine beach), and 10 from Newquay (where you may have heard there's fine foaming surf). Other top tourist attractions are accessible via the A39 five miles away. For food, several village pubs are within a couple of miles, and it's a 10-minute drive to the famed restaurants of Padstow, where there's also a farm shop and a large supermarket. Dogs are welcome on site and can be taken on walks on a path running from just outside the gates.

Electric grass campervan pitch (no awning, tents not permitted)

Liked: Quiet location with large plots. Toilet and shower block clean. Dog friendly.

Disliked: Very strong smell from waste disposal area. No lighting. No acknowledgment from site owners.

From the manager: Many thanks for your review, There is only a light by the toilet block and main gate. This is stated in description. We aim to be a low light sight with minimum light pollution so we can see the stars and planets and it's better for the environment ! Please bring a torch.. they is more light in the front Field near the toilet block but you chose a pitch away from that. We do wander around the sight and aim to speak to everyone when they are here but do not actively knock on doors. As you were only here overnight we did try but didn't catch you. Sorry.. Andy

Electric grass touring pitch (tents not permitted)

Liked: Nothing to dislike - extremely pleasantly surprised at this site. We have done 7 nights travelling the Cornish coast in a camper staying somewhere different each night. We had hoped to drop on somewhere in Newquay and booked this site last minute as everywhere we had previously seen had booked up, but I’m so glad we did as it was our favourite of all the sites we’ve stayed on this week. Loved the arrival system - a welcome board instructing new arrivals to chose and pitch up on a vacant numbered pitch. Site was perfectly maintained. The quietest, most serene location. The site owner came out to check in with us after 10 minutes, very friendly and personable, gave us all the site info we needed regarding showers/toilets/bins etc. Don’t let the unisex facilities put you off - hands down the best shower we had all week and showers and toilets were spotless. Can’t fault the site at all and if we planned to spend the week in one place, out of all the sites we spent a night on, we both would have picked this one. 20/25 minute drive from Newquay, 15 minutes from Watergate Bay, 10 minutes to Mawgan Porth and 15 minutes to Padstow.

Disliked: Nothing :)

Local attractions

Camels of two types are available within 10 minutes' drive of the site: the Camel Creek Adventure Park at Tredinnick near Wadebridge, and the start of the car-free and flat bike path the Camel Trail, running for 18 miles from Padstow to Wadebridge and on to Bodnin. If you're staying close to sea and coast, learn the ropes of Cornwall's watery sports at the Newquay Watersports Centre half an hour away, or mosey around town to take the kids to Newquay Zoo and the Blue Reef Aquarium. Further along the coast, Portreath (45 minutes' drive) is another fably foamy surfing spot as well as a tiptop starting point for hikes to Godrevy (eight miles west) or Porthtowan (six and a half miles east). For day trips, famed Cornish attractions like the National Trust-owned Lanhydrock House and the Eden Project are each an hour away, and boat trips on the River Fal from Falmouth are just over an hour's drive south.
