Hardstanding electric pitch (added by manager 27 Mar 2015)
A big catch: three privately owned coarse fishing lakes for the exclusive use of residents (added by manager 27 mar 2015)
Plenty of space (added by manager 27 mar 2015)
Pleasant holiday retreat for families and couples (added by manager 27 mar 2015)

  • Award-winning park two and a half miles from Perranporth
  • Across 21 acres of colourful Cornish landscape
  • Three fishing lakes, wildlife areas and recreation spaces
A ‘national treasure’ is just one of the many (many) comments from very (very) happy guests of award-winning Perran Springs Holiday Park at Perranporth in Cornwall, of which it might respectfully be suggested that if you, the other half, the kids and the dog don’t have a rollicking good time, you might need to have your pitching licence revoked. Location first: Perran Springs is two and a half miles from Perranporth, five minutes’ drive from Newquay and centrally placed to explore award-winning beaches, family days out and a whole heap more. It's surrounded by 21 acres of Cornish countryside in a secluded sheltered valley, with countryside views from the site, and flowers, shrubs and trees blazing colour across it. And now for activities… The park has three lakes for coarse fishing, all stuffed with tench, bream, rudd, roach and carp of up to 20lb. The site tackle shop sells tackle, rods and other fishing bits; angling expert Andrew is on hand for advice. (You'll need a permit to fish: collect at reception.) Perran Springs is nature conscious and has set up stuff all over to encourage local wildlife and curious minds, including a nature pond, nature trail and a butterfly bug, and bee garden; look out on and around the site for moths and lizards too. If the kids still need to let off steam, the playground, Fox Recreation Meadow and running around the various open spaces should tire them out nicely. The award-winning showers and other amenities are kept ‘spotlessly clean’ (another guest accolade) and include a baby changing room and an outdoor area for rinsing wetsuits. Finally (woof), even the family canine will be content here, as Perran Springs is dog-friendly. The local pub, the New Inn within walking distance at Goonhavern, accepts well-behaved dogs in its beer garden. All in all, a park to put a definite spring in your step…

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Many thanks to pitch up for advertising Perron springs camp site. We had a lovely week here on this beautiful, campsite and fisheries. Perron springs was easy to locate and being in central Cornwall, it had easy access to Towns, main roads and National Trust houses, etc all ready to explore. We discovered the meadow and beautiful lakes in an adjoining field, perfect for the few fishermen we chatted to there. The plots at Perron springs are spacious and pointing in a random arrangement across the field. This made you feel individual yet close to neighbours, with out it being crowded. The toilets and showers were very clean and all worked well. There were water and washing up stations outside within easy reach of every pitch. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there was a pop in food tent on site, so we had a delicious breakfast and a curry dinner on one day. We so enjoyed our stay here at Perron springs, a lovely, quiet, relaxed week with very amiable and respectful camp neighbours, what more do you need?

Disliked: I personally missed a reception desk with a friendly face to reassure me of knowing of facilities, local shops or events in the area, etc. But we managed fine, exploring for ourselves. The pop up breakfast and evening food was great but felt it would have also benefitted campers on the days they arrived or were leaving instead of mid week. We were given a clear site plan with a couple of regulations to follow but would have loved more information of where the nearest shop was, other local cafes, phone numbers of takeaways, and use of the fisheries and meadow etc.

From the manager: Dear Guest, Thank you for your review and high score. Thank you for recommending us to friends and we hope to see you again. Although we no longer have a food shop on site (unfortunately it was closed due to lack of use and demand), there is a great local Londis shop in Goonhavern, a short walk into the village. We also have a local gentleman who comes to the park twice a week during the summer cooking fresh hot breakfasts and evening burgers / chilli etc. Kind Regards, Perran Springs

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Site is in a good location easy to find, short drive to either Perranporth or Newquay with plenty of beaches to choose from The pitches are well spaced you never feel crammed in and no matter where your located it's a short walk to the toilet block The toilet and shower facilities are immaculate, easily the best and cleanest I've experienced while camping, always smells and looks clean, never any problem queuing for toilet Field at the side of the campsite to walk the dogs round and go for toilet

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Welcome great even received a list of dog friendly beaches. We asked to change pitch and this was accepted. Large space not on top of each other. Walk away from the new Inn pub around 15 mins local shop within 10.

Disliked: The first pitch hadn't been checked there was a dummy cotton ear buds and kebab wooden sticks on grass. The ground was extremely wet but we changed pitch. The on site shop could sell a few bits like milk bread etc. No bus stop outside. The iron was broke as we're both washing machine for the whole week we were there engineers were called apparently. Door lock broken on one shower. Reported and fixed. Would be noisy if by main road and toilets.

From the manager: Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We are pleased we were able to offer another pitch for you on arrival. Sometimes small items such as ear buds can be missed and are sometimes left inadvertently by previous guests who are busy in the morning taking down tents and packing away with excited children, dogs etc. Due to lack of use and demand we no longer have a food shop on site, it is now a fishing tackle shop. However, there is a great Londis store in Goonhavern village (with Post Office), a short walk from the park. We hope to see you again. Kind Regards, Perran Springs

Local attractions

Perran Springs Holiday Park is just inland from Cornwall’s north coast. On land, Perranporth Golf Club is north of the town and the long-distance South West Coast Path covers a 12-mile hike from Perranporth to Newquay via Fistral beach. Nearby Newquay isn’t just about the surf and its zoo: have a go at its golf club with views over the Atlantic or take a puff on the Lappa Valley Steam Railway on the town outskirts; horse riding, boat trips and deep sea fishing can all be arranged from here too. Or stay very close to home: Perran Springs has private access to a footpath going past the Carn Moor Nature Reserve and Conservation Area which is near the park.
