  • A 15-minute drive from Portreath beach and half an hour from St Ives
  • Indoor pool (high season only), games room and dog exercise paddock
Wake up to an unruffled vista of gentle hills and cobalt seas at Lanyon Holiday Park, which offers 14 acres of generously proportioned grass pitches. Site facilities are great: you can wallow for hours – free of charge, between April and September – in the toasty indoor swimming pool; the games room is open all day for TV, pool and video games; the kids can bounce themselves silly on the sizeable trampoline in the play park; and they’ve even thought of the dog, with a roomy exercise paddock for campsite canines (although there are no end of gorgeous walks in the countryside surrounding Lanyon, too). There’s no need to stress about the essentials, either. It’s all here: fridges and freezers, ample free hot water everywhere on site, hairdryers to keep your barnet looking tiptop, and oodles of washing machines, rotary and tumble dryers, and a free ironing kit.

Gold electric grass pitch

Liked: Fairly big pitch, although we couldn't get the car in with a Berghaus air 6 and porch. Just parked in front of the tent though and no one said anything. Didn't actually see a member of staff the whole time we stayed, although that was not an issue for us and everyone around was nice and friendly. Really liked the showers - no wait, warm and relatively clean. Each field (of about 12 pitches) had their own toilet and shower block with a small fridge and freezer which came in handy for milk, butter, cheese etc. Kids enjoyed the park and the swimming pool was a nice temperature and not too busy. Good location for sightseeing - 30-45 mins for places like Falmouth, st Ives, st Mawes etc. Avoid Redruth town centre though if you can.... Also handy having a large Tesco only 7 minute drive.

Disliked: Nothing much I disliked. The first day the clutch went in our second car. I called the number in reception to see if anyone could help with getting our tent from the recovery garage as our second car is tiny and we had a baby with us. They said they couldn't help, but this isn't your farm type place where the local farmer would do anything to help out. It is a holiday park with lodges and, although it made the first day an absolute headache to get equipment and get set up, it is not that type of place. If you want a personal touch with family friendly owners try somewhere else.

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, customers are able to use the space in front of their pitch beyond the hedge boundaries so long as it isn't restricting the neighboring pitches so where your car was parked would have been fine. We're glad that you found the facilities to be clean and without a wait time and also that your kids enjoyed the facilities during your stay. I remember speaking to you on the phone and did my best to try and assist but unfortunately could not offer you a member of staff or one of our personal vehicles in order to collect items from your car in the recovery garage. However, I did offer to find a local taxi that would have a large enough vehicle to transport your gear. We are a small team and try our best to help customers wherever we can but when we only two members of staff on site working, on that particular day, I couldn't justify one of them being off site to help load and unload your car... I'm happy that I offered the best solutions available :)

Great stay, would recommend.

Gold electric grass pitch

Liked: Good size pitch, level with nice heage boarder for privacy. The pool is small and gets busy at times but its clean and perfect for kids. Park good Nice laundry rooms and washing up facilities with fridges/freezers and microwaves etc.

Disliked: Wash room facilities are not the best and not enough of them. They were ok but could be better and need more of them especially in the Owl Field.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the review Suzanne, we hope your children managed to enjoy the swimming pool during the unusually rainy Autumn we've had! We do have 3 facility buildings across the holiday park and customers are not limited to using them in just one area. We hope to update our facilities in Owl over the out of season period. Hopefully we will welcome you all back soon :)

Silver non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Very helpful staff, was an issue with the toilets and hot water but was fixed so quickly which was reassuring of thier care. Lovely secluded area Have a quiet time they really try to enforce

Disliked: This can’t be helped but I struggled with it being dog friendly as I had a dog next to me and family shouting at thier dog through the night. So something to consider if you struggle with noise and don’t have a dog, you may struggle with that

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your wonderful comments about our well kept facilities and helpful staff :) We are a dog friendly campsite and try our best to make sure that all owners follow rules such as dogs being kept on leads in all areas apart from the dog walking field so that those who aren't so keen on dogs can still enjoy their stay with us,].

Silver non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: The four of us liked everything on site. Loads of hot water, even a fridge for the Tents , toilets were cleaned. Very often, there was a pool table, which was great, boss of the site was really helpful, pitch demarcation was excellent, and our tent even survived storm Betty. Five stars for a Colman tent.

Disliked: Nothing

Silver Plus (Starling field) electric grass pitch

Liked: The overall layout of the whole site was very good, not too far of a walk from wherever you are staying to a toilet/shower block. Plenty of things todo as well, the indoor pool was a nice addition. The check in process was easy and was very simple to find where you are staying with your personalised map. On our particular stay we were placed in a really quiet area which suited our needs really well. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, there was always someone around when/if you needed them. There was a nearby town that was less than a 10 minute drive away which had pretty much anything you may need that you hadn’t brought with you. Facilities were very clean and tidy every time I went in there and open all the time.

Disliked: The WiFi (free) was at times very slow and would not load properly at times. However, they did offer a paid for WiFi but we did not use this so cannot comment.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your great review, we are glad to hear that you found the check in process quick and easy. It is really important to us that customers find our team members friendly and helpful, one of us are always on hand to give a recommendation or lend a hand when needed. It is also great to know that you enjoyed the facilities we had here at Lanyon and found things to be clean and tidy each time you used them. Hopefully we will welcome you and your family back in the future :)

Local attractions

Leaving Lanyon, it will take a mere 10 minutes in your trusty automobile to arrive at acres of golden sand. Surfers will think they have dived and gone to heaven: Portreath, on the doorstep, is not to be sneezed at, but a few miles further they’ll find arguably the best surfing in Britain, on the beaches of Newquay. Art lovers will enjoy a trip to the Tate at St Ives, followed by a meander through the narrow streets that pack the hillside behind the sweep of the bay. Also within a short drive are the biospheres of the Eden Project and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth. Travel a little further and you can make throngs of finny friends at the aquarium in Plymouth.
