Local attractions

The famed town of St Ives is a short drive from St Ives Holiday Village, a place known these days for its art galleries and arty vibe, but still maintaining its fishy heritage with a still-thriving fishing industry. Wander the St Ives harbour to watch the fishing boat catches come in: you should be able to sample some of this later at one of the town restaurants… Also at the harbour is the Boathouse Theatre, hosting family marionette puppet shows in one of the St Ives former boat stores; another family-friendly option is the St Ives Treasure Trail where your little gems can hunt down baddies on a self-guided murder mystery trail. And then of course there's the art. The regular exhibitions of Tate St Ives and the New Millennium galleries are probably the most popular arty activity in the town, but several other local galleries can easily be found, alongside craft shops to pick up St Ives souvenirs. Outside town, take a boat from Penzance to the Isles of Scilly, for a day trip to take in its mild climate, birdwatching, and miles more Cornish beaches of golden sand.
