  • Family-friendly park within easy reach of St Ives and Land's End
  • Around 20 minutes' walk from the golden sandy beach of Portheras
  • Nature walks and birdwatching in the neighbouring 12-acre woodland
Wild Camping is a family-friendly site set at the edge of a protected 12-acre wildlife site that comprises a coppice woodland, a natural pond and lowland wetland on the wild western Cornwall coast, between St Just in Penwith and St Ives. Activities at Wild Camping include weekly bushcraft and traditional archery sessions (pre-booking essential), and you can go on nature trails and wildlife-spotting walks through the neighbouring woodland to see rabbits, badgers and foxes. Home to owls, buzzards, Canada geese and goldfinches, the forest is a good spot or birdwatching too, and as Wild Camping also sits in a designated dark skies area, there's no light pollution so plenty of serious stargazing can be done. Amenities include two composting toilets, two hot showers and a covered communal kitchen space with a dual-ring gas stove and a washing-up area. Barbecues and campfires are allowed. You're a 20-minute walk from the golden sandy beach of Portheras, and there's a café within walking distance too. The shops, restaurants, pubs and local supermarket of St Just are around 10 minutes' drive away, and you can buy local produce such as fruit and veg, beef and eggs from local farms.
