  • A mile from the surfing beach of Porthtowan
  • Adventure play area, swings, shop and games room
Small and friendly, family run and a mere mile from the first-rate Cornish beach of Porthtowan… this is a peaceful and well located place for Cornwall breaks. Porthtowan Tourist Park is in a quiet countryside setting, on the edge of Porthtowan village surrounded by fields and country lanes – but is only a couple of miles from the A30 and has easy access to Truro, Portreath, Tehidy Country Park and the South West Coast Path. This is an award-winning park, with modern facilities maintained to a high standard. There's a games room and adventure play area for leisurely times indoors or out; a tourist information room for plotting your next Cornish stopoff, and a food shop open daily – you'll be chuffed to hear that barbecues are allowed on site too... Among the well-kept amenities are a launderette, a washing-up area and a disabled-friendly toilet and shower block. Dogs are welcome on site.

Liked: Spacious level site which is exceptionally well looked after. The facilities including pool table, table tennis, tennis court and football field are wonderful. The walk along the lanes and down the cliff path to the beach is lovely.

Disliked: The site is quite exposed for those in tents or with awnings should you get any windy weather during your stay

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Pristine everywhere! Quiet, peaceful, friendly. I’ve never stayed anywhere so immaculate. It’s a beautiful walk (very steep but I don’t mind that) to the beautiful Porthtowan beach but if you want to drive, there’s a decent car park which isn’t extortionate, 2 nice pubs although I only went in The Blue Bar and there’s even some free parking if you get lucky. Perfect campsite in a perfect setting, would definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Disliked: Not a single thing

You will not be disappointed with a stay at this location that is also superb value for money. We will definitely be back for another visit.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Loved everything about the site. The location just a short drive/walk from Porthtowan beach is superb. The site itself is beautiful. Great hot showers, a wetsuit wash area, excellent play park for kids, simple but effective games room, friendly welcoming staff and a handy shop on site too. Plus the wifi worked perfectly when needed too.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (premium)

Liked: Very clean and tidy park , well looked after. Owner and wife very friendly. Toilets/showers very clean 10/10 👌

Disliked: We stayed in pitch number 1 , only problem was you are next to the rubbish and recycling area , the fence could of been a lot higher to block the view off the rubbish bins etc, we had to keep the blinds closed in the caravan due to people looking in while at the rubbish area. There is a lot of noise from the road, as well as the house next door in which the owners have no responsibility for. You also have no privacy from the next caravan due to having no fence/trees .

Local attractions

Stick to the north coast area, venture inland, or head down to Falmouth and the south coast, all within easy driving distance of here. Within walking distance, the beach of Porthtowan is a popular spot for surfers and families, with plenty of rockpools and caves to explore around its scenic wide stretch of sand. The site is also a short walk from the South West Coast Path – hike the up and down trail to Portreath four or so miles west – and near the Mineral Tramways trail, 14 mostly traffic-free miles from Portreath to Devoran down on the south coast near Falmouth. Shops, restaurants, bars and river boat trips are all at Truro a few miles away; also take time to see the museum, and, if you're around on Wednesday or Saturday, to mooch around the Truro farmers' market on Lemon Quay. Gardens? Several are in the area, with the National Trust's Trerice and Glendurgan the closest to the site. Or gold? Take a trip to Cornwall Gold Centre on the Portreath Road, to pan for gold, have a go at pottery, or just look significantly at your significant other over the gold, silver and pearl jewellery for sale. For family cycling or walking, Tehidy Country Park just outside Portreath is flat and buggy-friendly, and leads out to spectacular views for smashing picnics. More actively, try SK8 Skate Park and The Track, Sithians Lake for watersports and Camel Creek Adventure Park at Wadebridge.
