Local attractions

The position of Holmans Wood Holiday Park near the A38 means it's conveniently placed for piles of south Devon things to see and do as well as many holiday resorts and seaside towns. Both Exeter and Newton Abbot are easily reached by the buses that stop on request outside the park. Sandy beaches are at Dawlish, Paignton, Shaldon and Teignmouth; see also the old fishing village of Brixham, Torquay and its Kents Cavern, and popular Devon attractions like Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts. Inland, have a day or two in Dartmoor, starting off at its gateway Bovey Tracey (home of the House of Marbles) and winding up at well-known village Widdecombe-in-the-Moor in Dartmoor's heart. Nearby Haldon Forest has 3500 acres of woods with walking, cycling and butterfly trails. A day on the South Devon Railway, the longest railway in the south west, will take you along the River Dart valley from Buckfastleigh and Totnes among steamingly spectacular scenery; hop off at any stop to see more and make time for the museum at Buckfastleigh before setting off. More very vintage Devon can be seen at Canonteign Falls, Powderham Castle and many historic houses and gardens, or take the kids along to a day they'll remember at Go Ape, Pennywell Farm or the Crealy Great Adventure Park in Exeter.
