  • Within a short stroll of the surf and golden sands of Croyde Bay
  • Surfboards and wetsuits for hire; surfing lessons available
  • Tropical indoor pool, indoor/outdoor play, beach café and kids' clubs
Sick of being rudely awakened by your alarm clock? Try a Ruda wakening instead: after a blissfully peaceful lie-in, unzip your sleeping bag, take a gulp of fresh clean air and stroll a few steps down to the golden sands and sparkling waves… Ruda Holiday Park is in the perfect spot to make the most of the surfers' paradise of Croyde Bay on Devon’s Gold Coast, sitting right alongside the sweeping sandy bay. Croyde is a world-famous destination for surfers, and it’d be ruda not to have a go while you’re here. You can hire a variety of boards, wetsuits and other kit from Ruda Holiday Park’s dedicated surf shop, and instructors from the renowned Surf South West school are on hand if you want lessons. If the weather puts the kibosh on splashing around in the great outdoors, head for Ruda’s tropical indoor pool complex, where there are water rapids and underwater geysers, waterfalls, hydrojets and one humongous slide. This site is great for kids of all ages, with beach games laid on throughout the summer, a soft play area, an outdoor playground complete with obstacle course, and very bouncy kids' clubs: toddlers can make their own musical instruments for a boogie with Sid the seagull and Lizzie the lizard; four- to 10-year-olds can star in their own superhero movie, or get stuck into nostalgic funfair sessions featuring a coconut shy, tin can alley and the like; and there are DJ workshops and plenty of other age-appropriate action for tweens and teens in the Freestyle club. As with all Parkdean Resorts sites, you’ll find a good choice of on-site food options (Ruda has the added bonus of a beach café and ice-cream parlour), plus a sprightly schedule of evening entertainment, and comprehensive essential amenities.

Croyde Burrows electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Proximity to beach

Disliked: Condition of site in General, but especially the toilet and showers which are in desperate need of modernisation. The pitches are often waterlogged and many vehicles required towing off the pitches after becoming stuck. The lack of any hardstanding is a real negative and would stop me from visiting this site again.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Very reasonable price through Pitchup. Great location close to the beach. Enjoyed the Nashville Nights show on Sunday night. Well done to the entertainment team! Decent size pitch.

Disliked: Though cheap there is no excuse for no toilet rolls in the gents cubicles! The whole site needs bringing up to date. Didn't eat on site due to poor food reviews so this needs addressing by site owners.

Taw electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The views and beach are amazing which is the main reason we went, the entertainment was great and pitches nice and clean aswell as the toilets and showers.

Disliked: The arcade is very small which was quite disappointing also had quite a few leaks from ceiling so buckets all about also the big main shops like asda/tescos is over 30 minutes drive away which is a pain but I should have really checked that out before booking.

Taw electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Had to up grade from tent to caravan due to poor weather. Caravans very nicely done out and comfortable.

Disliked: Sadly the toilet block in the field we were ment to be in was locked up. The whole site was so boggy. The site is extremely confusing about whether it allows dogs or not. It was ment to be a family trip and my parents have a dog and told they were not able to stay by rude staff members. Spoke to manager next day that then allowed them to stay.

Bray electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely pitch and ground. The beach was close enough to walk to with surf boards and the toilet facilities were clean and tidy. The reception staff were also very helpful. There was also a shortcut path to the village.

Disliked: Flume only open on weekends so we didn't get a chance to go on it and the toilet/ shower block could do with a face-lift.

Local attractions

Don’t miss the chance to explore the Devonshire coastline surrounding Ruda Holiday Park. Recommendations include a walk to the headland at Baggy Point where you’ll be rewarded with outstanding views; a saunter along spectacular Saunton Sands, and a delve into the dunes at Braunton Burrows. Croyde is a perfectly pretty village of thatched cottages, tearooms, pubs, restaurants, cafés and (but of course) surf shops. There are umpteen visitor attractions in the area, particularly for animal enthusiasts, who can come face to face with life-sized model dinosaurs and a host of their living, breathing descendants at Combe Martin Wildlife Park; practise their trout pouts on some fishy friends at Ilfracombe’s aquarium; or get hands on with the animals at the Big Sheep, the area’s most eccentric day out: sheep racing and stunt ducks, anyone…?
