  • Glamping site on a farm surrounded by 250 acres of woodland
  • A half-hour drive from spectacular beaches on the Devon/Cornwall coast
  • Petting farm, campfire nights, nature trails and pond with rowing boat
Puddleduck Valley is just as lovely as its name suggests.... a blend of family farm stay, forest school and holiday accommodation to which guests return year after year. Plenty of old-fashioned farmyard time be had here – kids and adults can meet the animals (friendly goats, rabbits, cats, chickens, ducks and guinea pigs) and collect eggs for free. Elsewhere around the site there are nature trails, a digging pit and a pond with a small rowing boat – if your dog wants to have a little swim here the owners are also down with that. From time to time they organise events such as treasure hunts, puppet making and campfire evenings. If you'd like even more space to roam, the site is surrounded by Forestry Commission and National Trust-owned woods, giving you 250 acres to explore. Each yurt is fully furnished with a dining table, plenty of seating and a woodburning stove to keep you warm; there's also a private bathroom for each yurt a short walk away. Guests will have access to free wifi on site, and can use the communal kitchen which has cooking facilities and a washing machine. For food, Holsworthy has a supermarket, restaurants and pubs, and a couple of country pubs serving food are a couple of miles from the site.

Local attractions

Summerleaze and Sandymouth beaches are only half an hour from the site – top spots for atmospheric strolls and both very close to the splendid fishing and surfing town of Bude. On a boat trip from Bideford to Lundy Island, you’re likely to see a whole load of puffins, and, if you’re lucky, basking sharks and dolphins. The granite outcrop is ideal for walkers and wildlife watchers. RHS Garden Rosemoor is a half-hour drive from the site, with an extensive selection of varied gardens, as well as play areas and an arboretum. You can also spend the day at The BIG Sheep – a farm turned amusement park, with some surprisingly nifty rides and a gin distillery. Dartmoor Railway and Holsworthy Golf Club are also within reach of the site. No trip is complete without a visit to Tintagel Castle, the setting of which will have you reaching for your sword and shield, King Arthur-style. The medieval fortification is located on the peninsula of Tintagel Island, looking out upon the crashing waves: it's all very brooding here and you'll probably even get chance to spot Lundy Island...
