  • Spectacular site in Exmoor National Park, with wildlife viewing ark
  • Sustrans' National Cycle Route 3 and the Two Moors Way path nearby
  • In Europe's first International Dark Sky Reserve for stargazing
What a cracking site this is: Camping Blindwell Exmoor is in a designated International Dark Sky Reserve for excellent stargazing opps, splendiferous daytime views over the heather moorland of Exmoor National Park and close to several major cycling and walking routes, namely: Sustrans National Cycle Route 3, Land's End to John o'Groats and the long-distance Two Moors Way between Ivybridge and Lynmouth. Family-run by the latest generations of the Delbridge clan, the farm is a treasured family heirloom and has several splendid facilities for guests seeking a pleasant parkside place, including a wildlife watching ark from which you can try to spot wild red deer and Exmoor ponies in the neighbouring heather moorland. The farm also has its own spring water source for guests to swish and swallow; in fact, the farm is mentioned in an old Exmoor cookbook as being a place where people would come to drink the farm well's spring water in the hope of restoring their eyesight. During your stay you'll have use of amenities specially set up for camping guests, including washing-up facilities and portable toilets. Local pubs and restaurants are within three miles, and you're within easy reach of several spiffing Exmoor attractions including the historic Tarr Steps, Quince Honey Farm's fab bee exhibits and café in South Molton and several swell beaches at Lynton, Lynmouth, Woolacombe and Croyde.

Local attractions

As you're surrounded by Exmoor National Park, you can get straight out on foot or by bike to explore the moorland or join three major cycling and walking routes within a few miles: Sustrans' National Cycle Route 3, Land's End to John o'Groats and the Two Moors Way, which runs between Ivybridge and Lynmouth. You're a 25-minute drive from Dulverton (a popular spot for kayaking and canoeing on the Barle river, with a fine waterside pub too) and the historic Tarr Steps, where you can take a walk to a lovely wild swimming area. Over in the local market town of South Molton there's a big indoor climbing wall and a bee centre, Quince Honey Farm. Buzz around interactive exhibitions displaying an ever-expanding collection of honey bee colonies for an extreme close-up of the inner workings of the honey bee society, or settle in for breakfasts, lunches and teas in the smart café. Within an hour's drive you can travel northward to the sea for visits to Lynton and Lynmouth and strolls along the coast path there, or westward out to the beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde, where there are plenty of good surf opps and canoeing spots.
