Tamar-View electric gravel pitch

Liked: We loved the whole ethos of the campsite. A lot of thought and care had been put into all of the facilities. Loved that we didn’t need to book the swimming pool and the kids got a certificate from reception for swimming their furthest distances! All of the toilets were clean and well maintained with signage throughout reminding guests to be energy conscious. Dog walking facilities were excellent. Lovely field available for the dog to run around off the lead and a doggy spa with complimentary doggy shampoo to wash his muddy paws! 🐾 Friendly and welcoming staff. Pitches were ample sized, level and easy to manoeuvre into. Laundry facilities all easy to use and wise children’s entertainment available some nights which they loved. Great location, close to Tavistock and local eateries and supermarkets.

Super camping pod

Liked: The indoor pool

Disliked: You can’t park near the camping pods. The shower block is at the other end of the campsite to the pods. There is only 1 toilet near the camping pods & that was frequently engaged.

Top Field electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Friendly staff, good amenities

Disliked: No properly designated area for arrivals, it needs a large area for towing caravans on arrival to pull over well out of the way of other users while checking in. The grassy strips separating the drives from the caravan pitches need to be replaced with hardcore for easy access in wet conditions

Top Field electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The indoor pool, hot tub and sauna were one of the main reasons we decided to come here and it didn’t disappoint. The whole camp site was clean and well kept. Very quite site with lots to do.

Disliked: The site is out of the way a little but that’s what you expect with a good white campsite.

Local attractions

First on your must-do list should be a trip to nearby Tavistock, market town and home of the cream tea; browse around the regular farmers’ markets to pick up the best Devonshire produce. To walk all that food off, you’re only a short drive from Dartmoor with its walking, cycling and horse riding trails, or other active options including tree-surfing and canoeing are nearby. Those for whom a holiday wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the beach will be in sandy heaven, with some of the best beaches in the country easily reachable by car: bounce around the rock pools at Bovisand, get sand between your toes at Seaton, or explore the several small beaches at Talland Bay. For historical highlights, the National Trust’s Castle Drogo has gardens and a gorgeous view over the Teign Gorge. Or have a go at family walks and bike rides at Plymbridge, a look at Sir Francis Drake’s former home Buckland Abbey, or a visit to Dartmoor’s Lydford Gorge, the deepest in the south west and with a waterfall 30 metres high.
