Hemsford Yurt Camp is in a valley three miles from Totnes, in a peaceful corner of a three-acre field and its lake, stable and barn, and set up for peaceful stays in an accessible setting. The Hems river runs through the field. The lake on site is a haven for nature spotters as it's home to wild ducks, geese, newts and more. Off site, Hemsford is a couple of miles from the River Dart, within 20 minutes of Pennywell Farm and 15 minutes from Buckfastleigh and Dartmoor National Park. The site is off grid with its own power supply. Showers, toilets and a shared kitchen are all in the Hemsford barn.

Route directions

From Totnes take the A381. Approximately two miles on, take the lefthand turn signposted Littlehempston, follow the lane down into the valley at the bottom, go under the railway bridge and over the small humpback bridge. Immediately after the bridge take the next righthand turning signposted Hemsford. Follow this lane for ¾ of a mile when you will come up to a small junction. Travel straight on and within 50 yards ignore the next right also signposted Hemsford and travel a further 100 yards. The entrance to the yurt camp is on the righthand side, at Southford Stables. Ample parking for cars is situated in the stable yard. Parking for equestrian transport by prior arrangement. Nearest railway station is at Totnes, Bus runs regularly from Totnes – get off the bus at the Pig and Whistle stop and follow the directions as above. Hemsford is ¾ of a mile from here. Alternatively coming from Newton Abbot, regular buses run from Newton Abbot to Totnes and get off at the Pig and Whistle stop and follow directions as above.
