  • Family-friendly and family-run site with walks down to Lee Bay
  • Set on 27 peaceful acres a couple of miles from Woolacombe
  • Farm shop and e-bike/bike hire: trails straight from the farm
Traditional Devon farm stays are the name of the game at family-owned and -run Lee Meadow Farm a couple of miles from the sands and surf of Woolacombe, set among 27 acres with woodland views on one side and Devon hills on the other, and with views of the Bristol Channel towards Wales. There is a licensed farm shop here too, selling local free-range eggs and lots of fresh local produce. Just a few of the things on offer are hot breakfasts in a box, lunches, homemade cream teas, chocolate brownies and local ciders and ales, wine and beer. With a walk through the woods, guests can also reach a splendid pub in Lee which serves food. Easy walks and bike rides are simple to access straight from the farm, and the safe cycling of the former Ilfracombe branch line is just at the end of the farm lane. There's plenty of space on site for kids to run about too. Facilities are well kept and include free hot showers, flushing toilets and washing-up sinks; a disabled shower and toilet facilities plus a baby changing area and a token-operated hairdryer. E-bike and cycle hire is available on site. And finally, the two pubs within walking distance selling fine ales, cider and food are faves with the locals – always a good sign for pubs…

Electric grass pitch

Liked: This campsite is amazing, it was an off the cuff trip we only stayed for one night but the staff were so friendly - all staff were on hand with a smile ready to help in anyway possible the site was clean and tidy and toilets/showers were great - you can hire bikes from the site what a great idea, you can even hire a fire pit to sit under the stars and toast marshmallows - I can not fault Lee Meadow Farm - Thank you for letting us stay we definitely will be back and we will be hiring the bikes :-)

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Great facilities with ease of use and close enough to tent pitches. Tent pitches big enough and easy to access. Lovely friendly staff and always happy to help and offer information.

Disliked: Electric pitches did not allow for sea views. Only available with non electric pitches.

Maddy bell tent

Liked: Both shops were really good, but because we arrived at the end of the season the shops closed early. This isn't surprising as the site was really quiet by the time we left. Bike hire looks really good, but we didn't use it due to the weather.

Disliked: To get to the wash rooms you have to walk past everyone eating takeout from the shop. Could have provided cooking equipment as we've had on other glamping experiences.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: This was our 3rd time staying at lee meadow and our most favourite. Our family has grown each year we come back and so you would think it would be harder but there’s always other children to play with, the shop and evening food make it great for that little extra when you need it. Not over priced! The kids loved doing the camp fire this time! Facilities all excellent! Feels safe and so near to beaches and different days out depending what the weather brings!

Disliked: The toilet roll dispensers- I bought my own roll in the end as took forever! Not knowing there were extra toilets and showers in the top field or that there was an ocean and sunset view! We only knew this time because our pitch was in that field. On a lovely evening the sun goes down over the ocean and it’s pretty spectacular viewing!

Local attractions

Seven miles of golden sand beaches, surfing, diving, kayaking and shore and boat fishing are all within a few minutes' drive of the farm; on land, mountain biking, hiking, golf, horse riding and quad biking are all available locally. Within a 10-minute drive are Croyde, Putsborough, Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows, the biggest sand dune system in the UK and part of North Devon's Biosphere Reserve, Britain's first. The dunes are also a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a national nature reserve and a Special Area of Conservation for their 400+ species of plant: take a picnic of Lee Meadow Farm produce and see how many you can spot. The small fishing villages of Clovelly, Lynton and Lynmouth are also nearby, as are the dozens of old villages, scenic coastal walks, moorland and rivers of Exmoor National Park, worth at least a couple of days for its 620 or so miles of footpaths and bridleways, its cycle paths, its climbing, sea fishing, canoeing and kayaking.
