  • Quiet Dorset caravan park with sea views from every pitch
  • Five minutes’ walk to Eype Beach; 35 minutes’ drive to Weymouth
  • Tea garden for cream teas and snacks; restaurant five minutes’ walk
With extensive views of the English Channel and Lyme Bay, direct access to the South West Coast Path and a dog-friendly Jurassic Coast beach within five minutes’ walk, it’s three cheers for Eype Beach Holiday Park. And this quiet Dorset seaside site has much more going for it too. Covering four-and-a-half acres of gently sloping hillside, the park has plenty to make family holidays remarkably easy. No need to panic if you run out of foodie supplies, as there’s a small shop on site for the basics, as well as a tea garden where you can enjoy morning coffees or a Dorset cream tea while the kids stay afloat on ice creams and snacks. All guests are welcome to use the facilities at neighbouring Highlands End Holiday Park, just five minutes’ drive or 15 minutes’ walk. There you can keep younger children occupied at The Little Fire Station Soft Play, or challenge teens to rounds on the none-hole pitch-and-putt course overlooking the sea (charges apply). Enjoy family dips on the pool at Highlands End Leisure Club – and if you fancy some downtime all to yourself, book a leisurely session in the sauna or steam room (again for an extra charge), sneak in a coffee at Costa or enjoy a beer in Martin’s Bar and Restaurant – where there’s a menu of light bites, classic pub dishes, kids’ favourites and even treats for the dog.

Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Great location overlooking the bay; ideal for the coastal path walk. Site is on a slope but most pitches have been leveled. Not suitable i would suggest if you have mobility problems as the walk to the shower/toilet facilities (excellent) is steep. Warden staff are friendly and proficient, the site is kept in perfect condition.

Disliked: Take care on the single track road leading to the site ! you will have to reverse to let others pass and witnessed a number of 'close calls'. Not suitable for larger vans .

Coastal camping pod (no pets)

Liked: Beautiful views over coast. Small and quiet campsite. Lovely cabin which served as half-way between camping & glamping. Easy walking distance to bigger campsite with leisure facilities.

Disliked: V narrow winding country lane made getting to/from main road a bit stressful.

Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Great sea view and can walk to the beach in less than 5 minutes. Easy access to local fossil beaches for fossil hunting. Close to toilets, shower, washing up, good size pitches. The site sent out weather texts before we arrived to keep a watch on the wind speeds which was helpful.

Disliked: The site is very steep and hard to drive up when wet. It could to with a more permanent road on the left side of the site like the right side has.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that you found our weather texts helpful.

Liked: Fabulous view. Excellent amenities. My first experience of early morning dips in the sea, everyone seemed welcoming , do head down in the mornings.

Disliked: The Tourist cafe onsite was a little pricey for me, but did have the basics, fabulous fresh bread and pastries. I used the Spar on the neighbouring site.

Local attractions

Pebbly Eype Beach (five minutes’ stroll) welcomes dogs all year round and you can let the kids loose with buckets and spades to go rock pooling or ferreting for fossils. This peaceful beach sits on the spectacular Jurassic Coast, famous for its fossils, craggy coastlines and beautiful beaches. Wherever you walk along this coastline, the sweeping curves of Lyme Bay are your stunning backdrop. Coastal paths run over the clifftops to Thorncombe Beacon (20 minutes’ walk), Seatown and the landmark Golden Cap (both 50 minutes) to the west, or to West Bay (25 minutes) and the cutesy village of Burton Bradstock (an hour) to the east. Backed by soaring cliffs, West Bay (10 minutes’ drive) has a pretty fishing harbour to have a mooch around, while Weymouth (35 minutes) has fine Georgian architecture, sand sculptures to enchant the kids and plenty of harbour-side pubs to keep adults happy. And surely you can spare one day away from this gorgeous coastline to indulge the kids on the go-karts, chute slides and carousels at Crealy Theme Park and Resort (55 minutes)?
