  • Quiet park with countryside and farmland setting
  • Five minutes' drive from Hive Beach
  • Less than a mile from Burton Bradstock
It’s jolly diverse, the British countryside. Take for example the quiet Graston Copse Holiday Park near Bridport, where there’s more habitat on the doorstep than visitors can shake a stick at. You could sit in the shade in the leafiness of the park’s mature trees, amble around the surrounding farmland, take riverside or woodland walks, go to spot water voles, kingfishers and woodpeckers steps away in the Dorset countryside, or drive to the beach just five minutes away… just to get you started. There’s also the quintessential English village in the vicinity too: Burton Bradstock, with its 16th- and 17th-century thatched cottages, beach café... and the chance to spot local resident Billy Bragg (you don't get that in many quintessential English villages). The park has good basic amenities: a washing-up area, free ice block freezing facilities, chemical disposal, free showers and free hairdryers, and a tourist information point with details on what to see and do in the area.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely setting. Stayed in our camper van on a grass pitch with electric, which was level & close to river walk. Dog loved the area. Pleasant walk to beautiful village of Burton Bradstock, with lovely pubs and Hive Beach. A shop on site for basics. Showers / toilets & other facilities were very clean & pleasant. No clubhouse, which suited us. Will definitely be staying here again.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: This is our second stay at this campsite and we're already planning our next trip in 2024! We were in our old VW camper van on grass with electric hook up. The pitches are spacious with picnic benches dotted around. It was lovely to be at the back by the trees and listening to the wildlife in the mornings. Smallish toilet/shower block but clean and well maintained. Bricks available for barbecues. Freezer available in the useful info pod. We loved the walk through the corn field to the village and then on from there to Hive Beach which is about 30 minutes walk from the campsite. We had a lovely dinner at the Anchor Pub.

Lower Meadow non-electric grass pitch

Liked: We had a great stay at Graston Copse Holiday Park. The park was lovely and maintained. Toilet/Shower blocks always clean and tidy. The site was quiet. Tent pitches very flat and easy to lay our tents out. Very spacious. Lovely walks around the park, from the tent site to the toilet blocks. One way system when driving around the park worked really well. Code to the gate was given to us before had so it was quickly and easy on arrival we just let ourselves in. The location is brilliant if you enjoying the beach, you have two within a 5-10 minute drive.

Disliked: It’s different to find something that we disliked as the park was one of the best experiences we have had camping. Only thing I will say if camping you are down in a field out of the way so if you do need the toilet or want to shower you have to walk quite far to reach the Park facilities, which that isn’t always a bad thing but during the night it was a little annoying.

From the manager: What lovely photos, thank you from all of the team.

Visit spoilt by other campers, probably not the fault of the site.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Dog walks from site No road noise Generous size pitches

Disliked: Only 2 showers which need updating for size of park. neighbouring van owners who found it acceptable to shout at others across the pitch for a dog barking or a radio playing at low level (our neighbours). We left early as didn’t not find the site relaxed or comfortable. Final straw was when the wardens asked to speak to our dogs who were sat quietly in the awning then told us off for not having leads on!

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Large flat pitches Nice dog walking area Showers clean and tidy Staff very friendly Quiet area

Disliked: Inadequate facilities for size of site - 2 male, 2 female, 2 unisex, 1 disabled showers. Location of toilets/showers in relation to touring area, they are situated in the static area. Touring area unlit at night. Site was larger than advertised, 60 plots, plus camping field. Distance of walk to nearest beach misleading, through fields, across village, over very busy road then road again or through more fields, quite steep coming back. Have to pay for WiFi, not able to stream anything. Not a place we will return to.

Local attractions

Marketeers should make a mosey around Bridport their first stop – there’s been a market in the town since Queen Elizabeth (the first one) graciously granted permission. The Bridport Museum is also worth a stop, and, as shopping and sightseeing are thirsty work, a visit to sample the ale at the 18th-century Palmers Brewery is highly recommended. Bridport’s a gateway town for the World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast, with enough to do to keep the whole family busy for weeks – fossil hunting, crabbing, boat tours, sea fishing and watersports are all around to try, or you could see the country from above and below with a spot of paragliding or scuba diving. Beachwise, there’s bags of choice within a short journey of Graston Copse: the small pebbly beach at Hive is a National Trust site; drop in while here to sample the seafood at the acclaimed Hive Beach Café. The village of Burton Bradstock is tucked at the westerly end of 18-mile Chesil Beach, one of three major shingle structures in Britain (it’s said that smugglers in years gone by could tell exactly where they were on the beach even in the dead of night, just by the feel of the shingle). For west Dorset attractions, go to meet the inhabitants at Abbotsbury Swannery: there are over 600 hungry beaks to hand-feed here, as well as a kids' farm and award-winning gardens to look around.
